This team needs a tough coach who can lead these players. Harden is too immature(at least at this point in his career) and Howard is too soft. A players' coach is the worst thing possible for this Rockets squad. I hate to say it but McHale is a bad fit and frankly not that impressive of a coach to begin with. Remember, he was hired when it looked like the team was going to be rebuilding for several years and they wanted someone whose first priority wasn't going to be playing the veterans in order to maximize wins. I don't think it looks good to can the guy this early in the season, but the Rockets front office needs to figure out quickly if they really believe McHale has what it takes to coach this team to a title. Cuz there are some quality coaches out there right now(Karl, both Van Gundys, even Sloan) who won't remain unemployed for long.
guys it could be worse. if DM hadn't dumped cole aldrich last spring, we could quite possibly be sporting and Triplet Towers starting lineup right now
There is hope. I hear from a very creditable inside source that Cole Aldrich can be had for the right pieces in exchange. First step is to find out what league he is playing in right now and what part of the world that league is in.
You guys should get off McHale. I'm sure its clearly obvious that twin tower isn't working and he knows it. He sees it, per, every stats show that it doesn't work. This lineup obviously have another motive. It could be an agreement to cater to Asik or showcasing a player to trade. No coach is going to start a lineup and then not finish games with that lineup. No coach wants to lose games unless there's an ulterior motive.
It makes no sense. Playing Asik in a line up always losing points to the opponent doesn't make him look good, on the contrary it does make him look another guy that is useless and one dimensional (rebounding).
In argueably the most stats centric team with Morey at the helm, everything points to it being painfully ineffective. Additionally, the efficacy of Dwight and Omer individually is far and beyond the TT pairing. We're winning in spite of it, and its cost us the last few games with the effort/energy expended in coming back from the early deficits.
Bench Asik. I don't care about his feelings.... ever since Royce White toying with the organization I am all for stricter guidelines.... Players having way with lineups, PT should not be the new standard. S ign a Drew Gooden if they don't trust the young guys in order to hold down the fort for a bigger trade as they did with Camby, Fortson, Diamond Simpson, Boykins.
Coach clearly has no idea what he's doing. After watching him insist on playing Howard thru Hack a Howard and then keeping him in the game at a key moment instead of doing offense-defense, I'm convinced he's stubborn and just wants to get his way.
McHale's main priority is not to get fired, he managed to sneak by in Minnesota from position to position
Agreed totally. I said something of this sort two weeks ago and was witch-hunted. But that's OK. Hollins would be good too. I would love to see what Jerry can do with this roster. ~lol~
The only reason Mchale was hired is because Daryl Morey had to pay a debt of gratitude to his former boss Danny Ainge. The latter owed Mchale for sending them Kevin Garnett which led to a championship. Kind of like how Hinkie of Philadelphia took on Royce White for his former boss.
4-1 record with Lin as a starter. 0-2 with Bev starting. I'm not saying that this is the sole reason for the losing streak, but it is definitely one piece of the larger pie. McFail's strategy of Harden running PG with the first unit and Lin playing a JR Smith kind of role is blowing up in his face. Neither Harden or Lin are good at that and it will take years for them to develop. Harden can't get his teammates involved in the offense, and Lin can't take his defenders 1-on-1 and shoot over them. Lin is good at getting his teammates involved, and Harden is good at being setup and scoring. Let's get back to what worked last year?
MCHALE won 45 games last year with a MVP Harden, playmaking Lin, effort of asik, great team player parsons, a hardworking bev, mature Garcia etc. with growth, more chemistry & mchales run & gun system with more plays, I think it's safe to say they could have won 50 this year. was thinking maybe we need to cut him some slack, Morey went and got Howard and Mchale changed his whole system in attempt to make Howard happy and get him involved in the offense. He went away from his run & gun offense to a half court offense with Howard. It may work may not but he had to give it a try. If he is fired it will just look like Howard ran him out if u ask me. When he did what the organization wanted him to do work with Howard and have dream work with Howard. He did his job
You can believe McHale is responsible for last year's wins. Many of us believe that team could have won 5+ games more if they had a real coach who knew how to manage the team in-game. The main thing I can say for him is he let a bunch of talented players play their game last year. This year, they are trying to compete for a championships and McHale doesn't seem to be the kind of coach who can lead us there. The criticisms of McHale are not new.
You cannot win 50 games when you have the worst defense in the league as they did last year. The guy cannot coach a championship team
