I wouldn't be opposed to having a Travis Best on the Rockets. He's a fairly competent ball handler (moreso than what we already have) and he could shoot the mid-range 'J' with more consistency than Moochie.

Moochie is a fairly good jumpshooter. My problem with Moochie is that he dribbles the ball too much too long. I think if Moochie brings the ball down, look for open teammates, pass the ball around, then he would be a lot more effective than dribbling for 18 seconds and then passing it. If he sees a clear opportunity to score, then take it. Otherwise pass the ball around and get the ball movement going.

At 5'11" I'd have to say no to him.

I'm not too keen on the idea of bringing in a bench sitter either.. I'd say go after starter material.

Just to continue this idea, what is his current salary and how much would it take to get him?

Since we are over the cap...he would be our MLE.

I would rather get players like Eric Piatkowski and Jon Barry and Voshon Lenard and Eduardo Najera over him.

But he would still be a good addition.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), I've been accused of that before--and sometimes it's true!

After thinking about it, the Rockets wouldn't bring in another point guard when they're already paying Moochie (too much) serious money to come off the bench. Steve's likely not going to the two even with a Best, and my suggestion was predicated on him backing up Steve.

If Moochie were making, say, $1.5 mil/year like Travis, then I could see the Rox just eating Moochie's salary and then going with a more polished/savvy ball handler and court general off the bench in Best. But since Moochie is making pretty impressive money for a backup, they're not about to do anything that would keep him off the court.

What the Rockets now need is a #3 (if we don't re-sign Posey, in particular) that can shoot more consistently from the outside.

I can see him as backup.

As much as I dig Moochie, I'd rather see him go then Mobley or Griffin.

Mooch is not a spark plug. He does not provide energy coming off the bench. He dribbles more than Steve and Cat combined, it seems. At times he just looks lost.

Personally, I want to leave all the starters alone (and Mo). If there are any major changes in the off-season, I hope it only affects the bench.

I'm of the opinion that major changes will only set us back another year.

Yeah, I don't think anything major is going to be done in terms of addition, although I thought it was funny that someone brought up Vince Carter on 610 yesterday afternoon.

I think it was Rich who said that you get the feeling that the Raptors would try to shop Carter this summer but that it's doubtful the Rockets would be offering up anything Toronto wanted in return.

To that end, I can't see Toronto taking anything from Houston less than Taylor/Griffin, Mobley and someone else with decent youth/ability, plus the Rockets would have to find a way to free up more cap $$$ in the deal since they wouldn't be able to fit Vince under the cap with his current contract.

Finally, the voice of reason! I think at the very least the starters(and MoT) need one more year to gell, not an excuse for losing. But rather just to see if this team has what it takes!

I agree.. but only one or two changes to the bench would be enough. One being to bring in a backup pg, and maybe get rid of Moochie. But Best is not the one to bring in. I've seen him play countless number of times and he's not worth it.

I agree also. What do you think about Rod Strickland? I mentioned it another thread, that he might be good. I mean he is A. a Vetren B. a playmaker C. Hero of Steve Francis D. If I remember correctly he had nice jump shot as well as the aballity:D to get to the rim!
