lets trade francis and eddie to the cavs for their 1st round pic and Ricky davis just let him get a hair cut please. Then draft Darko Milicek he would be a good PF additon. Or lets have that 1st round pic as trade bait for who ever wants Lebron. Another option is draft Lebron/but why
when i was saying isn't jamal crawford taller than mobley? i was not implying for mobley to play point guard. no reason to trade francis. i was just saying it might be interesting to have a backcourt of francis and crawford instead. PG Francis SG Crawford SF Posey PF Griffin C Yao
It would take Francis and Yao to get the first pick, and I'm not sure the team that got it would do that even then. When people see Lebron, they are seeing Magic, Bird, Jordan. And no one wants to miss on that.
Translation for those who need punctuation to understand: Magic? Jordan? What? Please. He can't even compare to Kobe.
You've made this comparison several times, and I don't see it. I don't think we are in a comparable situation regarding return with Francis vs. Pippen at all. Pippen was coming off quite possibly his worst year since his rookie season. His numbers were on the decline, and he had a long term contract with 6 (or 7?) years left. Anyone would think twice about acquiring a player with declining numbers due to age, and that amount of years at that amount of money left. Even still, there were rumors of us getting Rasheed Wallace for Pippen...but those definitely halted when he dropped his trade value further by bashing CB4 publicly. This is a completely different situation with Francis...he's a rising superstar that is highly marketable. His contract will be one that takes him through his prime years, not one that he starts outside of them. He's shown that he's over his ear/shoulder problems and plays big minutes. He's yet to call Yao Ming an oversized doofus, so he's good on that front as well. Of course you don't trade Francis for a group of role players- that'd be silly. But comparing his level of star-ness to Quitten's is illogical. If we were to trade Francis, obviously we'd be getting a singular stud in return. Sure there are serious salary complications, but Francis is highly regarded enough that a team that wants him would be willing to sit down at the calculator and make it work. That said, I think Francis is the type of guy you can help build your team around (with Yao), and I don't see much of a point in trading him unless he causes a problem. I do think that the Francis-Mobley tandem is counterproductive to us fully utilizing Yao and the rest of the team, but in general you keep the better player (see Philly- AI vs. Stack, AI vs. Hughes, AI vs. Tim Thomas), and I don't think there's any argument that Francis is not clearly the more talented and a better player, plus is younger. Unless there is no market for Mobley (which is doubtful considering he's sub-30 on a good contract, and can score), I see a much clearer alternative to moving Francis.
I don't see how ya'll even fathom trading away the Franchise, he is the heart and sould of this some time rag-tag group of ballars. Stevie has it all and next year he will prove that they can contend in the West, he will pass the ball more, work on his outside shot and play better D. As far as Tonto, I mean Mobley, he will play second or third fiddle from here on out. Yao has to get more touches, we all know that, and so do the other teams. When Rudy comes back he will make some adjustments and we will be ALOT better. With an all-around better defensive mind next year we have chance with the starters we have, we could use 2 solid bench palyers that can come in and simply shoot the 3 ball and play good D. Nevermind that, trade Mooch and Mobley to Seattle and get Brent Barry. Kill 2 birds with two stones. Out!
I'm just telling you what NBA people think (I trust their knowledge a little more than yours.) In fact, if Yao came out this year, he would definately be the second pick in the draft. LeBron is 6'8 240 pounds and can play the 1,2,3, or 4. He has uncanny passing ability. By himself he took a team of complete scrubs and beat all of the prep schools full of McDonald's All Americans. He killed Carmelo Anthony in the game they match up in last year. It's the ability to come in and instantly make your entire team better that has people drooling. The kid has the potential to be the next MJ. PS Don't diss Kobe. He is doing things at 24 that Jordan wasn't. If he keeps inproving, he will be on the MJ level - he's not far from it now.
thanks for your feedback. but i just think they making lebron a big of a player, he is in high school he dont graduate till may. C'mon
NIKE, I didn't mean to compare Steve to Quitten and I agree with everything you said. My point was that with Francis having a max deal, there are 2 possibilities if we decided to trade him: 1) we get a superstar player (like the scenario you were talking about) 2) we get a group of role players whose total salaries equals Francis' Personally, I think the odds of 1 happening are slim. Francis and Quitten are only being compared because of their salaries, not because of their games.
