How do I know if I've been a victim of identity theft? (Social Security)

    I tried signing up for an electricity service provider, but once i hit the register button they said I will need to send my ss card and driver's license through fax to verify who i am. I called them to ask why is this so, and they said there is an identity mismatch. What is going on?

    I wouldn't send them ish. For all you know, they're the ones scamming you...

    Go physically to the electricity providers office and provide them the info if you are still suspect of their intentions. That or provide your SSN in this thread so we can research this issue for you.

    Maybe someone in ACN secretly signed you up for their services. Now the FEDs are on to you.

    I mean, my cousin uses the same electric service company. I already sent my identification...
