AMEN!!! though he averaged 20 in his career he is not someone you can run your offense through. I would compare him to Alonzo Mourning
He never was at their level. Hakeem wasnt physically dominant but he was so skilled in the post. Shaq was very big and athletic like Dwight but still had those post fundamentals which made him a dominant force. Dwight has solemnly depended on his athleticism his whole career. He has very little skill and I think the Rockets will see that while he is playing out his contract.
Alonzo had a very good midrange jumpshot. He also had that money baby hook. Alonzo was not a bad post player and hell of a lot better then Dwight.
My opinion is that once he improves his free throw rate on the court. He will get more touch in the post.
He's just got to start pinning his man in the low post. Quick easy buckets not off of plays but him just taking advantage of his strength and quickness, pinning his man and going up for the quick hook or pump fake and dunk. He could get four or five of those opportunities a game if he just becomes more opportunistic. I've never seen Shaq make more sense.
Exactly. Im not sure what video your talking about but Im guessing it was the halftime show during the Lakers game. Dwight Howard does not need to be Hakeem, he simply has to use his body in the paint smartly. Shaq was calling this "ducking in": When Dwight does not have a big body on him, he needs to force his way into the paint right underneath the rim, seal off his defender, and demand a pass. If the ball gets to him its a dunk. If the ball does not get to him he has a right to throw tables in the locker room at half time. It is possible to get 5 of these a night at least. To top it off, Im willing to bet that (just like you or I) Dwight shoots free throws better when he is having a good sweat from constant physical work than he is when he is cold and simply standing 12 feet away from the rim waiting for a post pass.
Howard needs to develop a 5-12 ft mid range jumper. He also needs to work on better positioning in the post. He have to come up with more than two moves in the post. And damn his freethrows wow.
so would everyone else..like you said, if he didnt have injuries, every single person would take yao....we already know his history going up against d12.
i was thinking that too...if he cant get a post up move consistently, he shouldve tried to get a 12-14ft jumper or something. He has neither.
Nope, I don't. That show has jumped the shark. Use to love it, but now, I don't know what happened. Like they got too famous or something
But this talk itself was great. They hit the nail on exactly what Dwight should do and could do. But he does neither.
