Target giving people 200 bucks credit for original ipads

    If I could trade in my iPad2 for a new Mini on order, or an iPad Air, and get $200 bucks for it (or more), I'd probably jump at the chance. Anyone know the details on that? Is it an option?

    This is how the program works. You take your Ipad to target and to talk the mobility person which is not a normal target employee. All they do is check if it turns on and doesn't have any cracks in it. What's special about the promotion is that they will give you a minimum of 200 bucks credit. They normally give you 75 bucks for Ipad first gens. I doubt you get any more for an Ipad 2 The credit is in the form of a gift card which is used towards the purchase of a new ipad. What I don't know is if the card expires or not.

    Unfortunately Ipad airs and the new mini are out of stock at most targets, but if you buy with a Target red card, you have a 60 day return policy on any purchase so you could get an Ipad that they had in stock and then return it when they have the new ones. You also get 5 percent back for using the red card.

    Wait - does it matter how much memory the 1 has?

    I have a 1 w. 64GB, wifi only, it is in perfect condition, but it is just getting too slow to run most things and will never be updated again.

    I love it, but I have been thinking of selling it.

    But is this promo for $200 store credit? Or specifically for the purpose of buying another iPad?

    Couldn't you just get the credit and grab the Mini later when it comes back in stock?

    And is this ALL Targets?

    I may be all over this!

    Technically you are supposed to use the card to buy an Ipad. The gift card actually says upgrade card, but I have read somewhere, that some stores allow you to buy anything. I think it depends on who is ringing you out. I have no idea if the card expires. I doubt it expires since it is your money and target isn't going to screw you out of it.

    BTW, I doubt they give you more than 200, but you can check here. http://www.targettradeinprogram.com/

    The mobility guy gave me a gift card with no stipulation on what to use it on. There was a line of dudes trading in their iPads.

    The girl at Target just now told me that it would be a Target gift card that you could use on an upgrade or anything else at Target.

    How does this benefit Target? Any idea? I assume even the components of the 1st gen aren't worth $200 now.

    So they just check to see if the ipad comes on? I have a ipad 2 that comes on but touch function doesnt work. Wonder if i can trade that in.

    Touch has to work because they get the model number from the settings menu.

    You did not read the fine print. It's a $200 gift card that expires in like 2022, and does not need to be used on a purchase of a new iPad (or any other Apple product)
