I think you're showing historical misunderstanding. In Jackie Robinson's time, there were separate water fountains etc. for "colored" people. They literally had to sit in the back of the bus. He wasn't making Volvo ads. Regardless of whether people are biased against Jeremy, I think you're not seeing Robinson properly.

Ok maybe. Jackie Robinson is a little extreme. But Lin is compared to those first black quarterbacks (back in the 70s). People thought lacked the skills to be the leader of the team. Ask Warren Moon and Doug Williams what they went through.

You sir are a god damn idiot. You are exactly whats wrong with people nowadays throwing around race this race that. As in any professional sport if the player isn't playing well, it doesn't matter if you're asian, black, white, latino, purple, green, etc, you will be criticized and race and color have nothing to do with it.

You and anyone else that share the same ideas are a ****ing disgrace.

There is no solution to slowing down Chris Paul....do people actually think the best way to guard him is to have Bev all up in his face and trying to be physical?? Get out of here....if CP3 has a bad game, it's because he had an off day not because he can't deal with a single defender.

Come on now, if his name was Jeremy Bledsoe instead of Lin, you have a lot more analysts on his jock. Even during Linsanity we kept hearing over and over about turnovers, can't shoot.

Is anyone talking about how Bledsoe is shooting 25% from 3 and turning it over 5+ times a game? Of course not. It's not obvious racism, but perhaps something more subtle. Because of his race Lin just doesnt look the part. Danie Dae Kim sums it up perfectly at the 1:45 mark

    Seriously?

You do know this team had a guy called Yao Ming right?

You know, that Chinese guy drafted first overall who many people predicted to fail?

Actually race does matter. It's not objective but everyone holds a certain stereotype and bias towards someone based on their color. Racism has transformed into something more subtle. Plus it's human nature for us to categorize things and stereotype - it sorts and organizes information better. But that is not so to say, we can't allow ourselves to rethink and rejudge the situation in an more open minded manner.

But consider this, the media these days overblow everything. Once someone reads or hears something often, then it must be true. Since Lin is being criticized similarly by many different media outlets, sports blogs, writers etc, then it must be true. Announcers and commentators are saying it too just because they heard it from someone else. So there are many factors in place that Lin has going against him. He just has to roll with what's happening. Linsanity has put Lin under scrutiny. "Does he really have what it takes still or is he still a fluke?"

Your absolutely correct. They just like Dominicans, Israelis, Turkish, Homosexuals, Native Chinese (Yao), Haitans (Dalembert), Native Africans, Slovenians (Dragic), and the list goes on an on. Because we know they are better than an American born Taiwanese. The organization is so racist.

In addition to Taiwanese, I also noticed they don't like Lithuanians (DMo).

Yeah, Jeremy plastered all over the covers of Sports Illustrated, with his own film out, peppered with endorsement deals, a virtual media darling -- that's comparable to Jackie Robinson, whose own teammates threatened to sit if he was allowed to play. Whose opponents threatened to strike if forced to play opposite him. Who had cleats thrown at his head and received death threats on a regular basis. Who was routinely and openly called a ****** and told to go back to the cotton fields during games. I can totally see the comparison.

Either you truly have no idea of what the climate was between whites and blacks in the 1940s, or you are pulling the ultimate reach. And I say this to anyone else who dares to compare the relatively charmed existence led by Jeremy Lin -- or any other athlete of this generation who is one of the first of their background to excel at a professional sport -- to what Jackie Robinson and those of his ilk endured. Really, really ridiculous.

Haha, so this game thread has gone from discussing a great Rockets win on the road, to how Jeremy Lin is the victim of racism. Wow.

If that is a glimpse of what Dwight Howard will be bringing to the Rockets, then he will have an impact that is closer to what Hakeem brought than I thought he would. It's the first time I truly felt he wasn't some kind of liability out there in some way. He was actually making some offensive moves that had me flashing back to Hakeem's dominance. He was a beast. I was impressed as hell by what I was seeing out of him. Just a great game by him and Harden. It has me so excited for this team's future. What a fun game to watch!

You think human nature changed over the forty years? It just suppressed by political correctness.
