This thread shouldn't be about Lin, it should be about that Aaron Brooks is terrible at most things he's asked to do. Can't defend, shooting is so-so, doesn't set up teammates. No reason not to give Canaan some run here.
Paul would have figured out a way to get Pbev fouled out. I dont think Beverly can slow down Chris Paul either even if he didn't foul out. There is a reason he is one of the bets PGs in the league. In another note, I agree with you that in a lot of games last season Lin gets fouled up real bad driving in the lane and sometimes the refs swallow their whistles. Then you watch other games and the minute Lebron (who is 250+ pounds) or CP3 (who is strong as well) gets touched by a guard and the whistles start pouring out for foul calls for them. Sometimes I see Harden get mauled driving in the lane and the refs dont call anything. Its amazing how much the refs call fouls for certain superstars in the league but not for other players.
Unfortunately even if we had bev he probably only would have gotten 10 minutes of play time due to foul trouble. couldn't look at CP3 without getting a foul called on you during the first half.
its not about lin vs bev. understand fans they play together, bev was needed last night to run lin and bev togther, lin could have been on reddick bev on paul would have saw less points i promise you that !
Bev can't cover Paul, he will get his points no matter what. Lin did his best, and honestly 2 calls were like BS. Superstar calls for Paul. Would Bev be able to slow down Reddick? Or would he be too small?
I think the Lin/Bev small ball lineup would have done better against the CP3 and Reddick. Both of them playing D together is quite effective on teh court.
I don't think Beverley can do much with this situation. Harden just not doing his defense. But we do need him for rotation when our PG's got into foul trouble. Sharing some fouls.
anyone else remember that game? he refs seem to had it for the Clippers. kept calling fouls on them in the 4th quarter ... for a change
Legit post. This post isn't about bev > lin or lin > bev. This is the fact that bev is a pressure defender. He doesn't give his guy space to even think about what they want to do. This breaks their rhythm and tires out who ever he's trying to defend. Not necessarily stopping them from making an assist or scoring, but makes them work for whatever they attempt. This is something that doesn't make the stat line.
agree that it would have been ideal (if Bev was healthy) for Bev to guard CP3 and Lin guarding Reddick with Haren on the bench. Although still would think Bev would have picked up at least 3 fouls by the end of the 1st quarter.
Some of you guys are just plain stupid if you think Bev could not have made a difference in this game. Defense aside, Bev's energic attitude would have been a major plus for us. Smh...
Exactly. And most of the time Bev is very good at being phyiscal without getting into foul trouble. He puts his body into his man without actually touching him with both hands. Whether he would've guarded Reddick or CP3, he would've made a difference. I don't know if that would've been enough to swing the game, but the spread between Bevs D and Harden/Lins is pretty wide.
If someone could explain, but why is Isaiah Cannan inactive? Too many PG's? On the other hand, I can't wait for Pat Bev to come back!!
I have also noticed that Beverly's intense defense seems to be contagious. Lin etc. all seem to play more intense when hes out there.
