Ever since we employed the Supersized Lineup we became stagnant on Offense. Surely it slowed down the team's pace yet it seems that the whole team has problems running the same well oiled offense as last year. We don't move the ball well and our team assist numbers dropped to the bottom of the league. We used to be running a lot more, making less turn overs and constantly be in the Top 10 in terms of Assists per game overall.
season just started only way for twin towers to hvae a chance is if everyone plays as a team. that hasnt happened yet on a consistent basis it will take time for things to gel and get chemistry going. im not giving up on the twin towers cuz of this "stretch 4" obsession everyone has. if mchale wants to give up on it so soon oh well. casspi is proving me dead wrong. he's reitalizing his career with the rockets. but he'd have to guard pfs 30+ minutes every game. he's gonna have to prove me wrong on that with his 6'9 230lb frame.
The whole strategy on how to focus playing postup is stupid when you have the one of the best PnR buys in the league. CP3 and BG just did a "Linsanity" show on Rox, something like Lin's offense with Chandler in Knicks. Once you get that kind of momentum, you can kill your opponent on will.
I really think that this time around McSuccess is not the one trying to move away from the PNR (though such a move is in no way beneath our very own COTY). The problem is Dwight's ego. It was the same BS in LA with Nash, one of the greatest PNR PG of all time. Howard really does not want to be confined to a Karl Malone type of role as he still want to think of himself as an elite post player in the vein of hakeen and kareem. The truth is that he is nowhere near those guys in terms of skills but his ego prevent him from seeing it. He seem to prefer sucking and losing on his own terms rather than conform himself to an offense more conducive to winning.
This unfortunately is a potential issue if true. Either way, we're seeing WAY too many post-ups for Howard. Dumps into the post early in the clock when there are good post defenders on him, and when the opposing team is rotating to double team him. It seems kind of silly when you've got 2 of the best PnR producers in the NBA on the team that we run so few PnR's and screens. Hopefully this is just experimentation by McHale. If it's Dwight, we can hope that he realizes that he's costing the team wins and limits his Post play to garbage time, big leads, and weak opposition. It's truly painful watching Howard fail in the post over, and over, and over...
