Of course we needed Bev. Chris Paul would have done nasty things to him too, but we would have had 6 more fouls to give and Lin wouldn't have had to avoid even brushing against him. Two starting PGs are better than one against a guy like that.
Needed him bad tonight. I read the pregame and Parsons was talking about how they need good defensive pressure from the PG position so CP3 doesn't have the space to get everyone assists.... 23 points, 17 assists and just 2 ****ing turnovers. Is this real life? He took a paint brush tonight and then threw it away and just jizzed on Lin's face. Literally a perfect game.
PB probably could have pressured the ball more and fought through the screens better than Lin but I honestly don't think Bev would've made a difference tonight with the way the refs were blowing their whistles. He would've fouled out by the 3rd. But even assuming he didn't foul out, the fact remains that Reddick and Crawford especially killed us. You're blind if you can't see that. I put this loss 30% on the refs, 30% on Harden for his lack of D and decision making, 20% on the poor help D and our lack of inability to fight through screens and the rest on the lack of quick adjustments by Mchale.
yea, easy for Parsons to say. He's not guarding Paul nor is the best SF in the league the threat Paul is.
People don't get it. It's not about Lin vs Bev, but Lin + Bev. Those two have great chemistry offensively. But I love that Bev is a ball hawk with a bulldog mentality, add to it Lin's effort and improvement on defense and we have an awesome reliable SECOND option in the backcourt.
Did we not get 40+ FTs and clippers only got less than 30? Stop blaming the refs, if Harden plays like this, we aint beating elite teams, period.
That's like saying matt barnes will get into kobe's head... best players in the league are considered best for a reason...
you mean how beverley man'd up against the warriors last season and was one of the 2 main catalysts in 3 of the 4 wins? yeah no. Don't be fooled by eye charts. coming from the bench for 18 minutes of energy, that's another thing. but let's not act like he can even shut down jackson, walker, curry let alone the best pg in the game in CP flop. The bigger concern should be Harden going K-mart on defense.
Aaron Brooks is just brutally bad. With harden doing most of the ball handling it effects his game but he should build up some assists on the 2nd pass but it just isn't happening. 0,0,2,1,1 is his assist totals in the last 4 games plus 1 preseason. Often unguarded until he is around the basket- opposing teams just trust their 4's and 5's to stop him. Shooting 33% with 1 board per game. His defense is almost non-existent just like it was when he was here before. The delta between Brooks and Beverly is huge. We need Bev back or find another 3rd stringer.
Dude did you not watch the game? Don't just look at the boxscore. Also, once the game was out of reach, the refs starting blowing their whistles against the Clips to even things out so they wouldn't get caught.
I second this. Still, I'd be concerned with Bev getting into foul trouble just the same. But a second guard who can play defense would've been a difference maker tonight.
The game was lost in the first when Reddick, Dudley, and Blake Griffin went off for 42 points in a single quarter. Beverley wouldn't have guarded any of those guys
We definitely missed Patrick Beverley tonight no doubt. I believe Mchale made a huge mistake by not putting in Brewer to defend Chris Paul. Otherwise why did we even give the guy a roster spot. He is the closest guy to a perimeter on the ball defender outside of patrick beverley he could have disrupted the flow of Chris Paul.
Although Beverly may also be torched by CP3, this is the night I'd like Harden to step aside and let Beverly and Lin play the 1 & 2.
Here goes the game being BLAMED on Lin again. Lin can't guard Redick, Griffin and Jordan. Such hate. Can't wait till Bev comes back so we can win the rest of the games. (*wink *wink)!!!!!!
