Only one more game to go for both players.

Yao scored 10 points and 6 rebounds today.

Amare has 6 points and 2 rebounds at the half.

    Phoenix is at Seattle tomorrow.
    Houston hosts Denver tomorrow.

    Todays rookie power ranking below:

    Too close to call? Co-rookies?

Does Amare get the ROY due to being in the playoffs?

Or does Yao have the edge due to the offense going through him more?

Yao should and hopefully will win it.
He is leading in most categories.
    He is just better.
    He is more valuable.
He is the rookie of the year.
    Or co...

    TOMORROW. 50 POINTs by Yao.

Amare is from cy - creek? He's a local product? Hmm, now it doesn't matter who wins, its all Houston.

The "(Orlando, FL)" makes me think he's not from Cy Creek in Texas... :)

obviously amare, his team got the playoffs and i'm pretty sure that's all that matters around here. he's obviously a winner. sure ming had some pretty stats, but his team didn't win and amare showed up when it counted and was part of a hot team down the stretch. i guess it's gotta be amare then.

Amare was 6th in the league in offensive rebounds..but Yao must have led the league in changed shots. Voted Yao, hands down.

of course i think that yao should win, but the #'s are too close to pick one over the other.
i think that the fact that he is going to the playoffs will put amare over our man.
hopefully he can get co-rook at the least.

I think co-rookies, or Yao. Yao got 2 less minutes a game. In 2 minutes Yao could easily grab another rebound, which would give him more points and more rebounds a game. If you look at it that way, it's gotta be Yao as Rookie of the Year.

Yao also tended to get double teamed a lot. Teams would gear their defense to stop Yao, nobody did this for Amare. I would either give it to Yao or Co. It's not like Amare really stepped it up to push his team into the playoffs, they've won despite some of his worst games of the season.

Come on dude, if you watch all the phoenix games down the stretch, Amare didn't do squat for his team. Marbury carried the team on his back with Marion's support down the stretch. There are so many times this season, Amare didn't play down the stretch during the 4th quarter/OT and they've pulled it out all because of Stephan. What really happened was the leader of their team (Marbury) outplayed the leader of our team (Stevie) during the stretch run. People who say Amare should get the ROY just because his team went to the playoffs and the other guy's team didn't are just ignorant.

If Mr. Mean will not give Yao Ming enough time to play, Yao Ming will not get the ROY. If Yao Ming can't get the ROY, it is because of MR. Meam. Yao is worth of ROY, but Mr. Mean don't want Yao Ming to get it.

I think the most important factor is how much the opponents respect the player, at both ends of the floor. I think Yao wins this hands down.

But would the Suns have made the playoffs without Amare?

Now that the season is over, I thought this should be brought back up with their final stats.

    YAO MING AMARE STOUDEMIRE
    FG% .496 .472
    PPG 13.46 13.49
    RPG 8.23 8.79
    AST 1.67 .95
    STL .38 .76
    BLK 1.79 1.06
    TOG 2.11 2.30
    FT% .81 .66

Since these stats are about a wash, other than FT% and they are in the playoffs while we watch, I would think it should go to Amare. I would think the best Yao could hope for would be co-roy if they went by stats alone, but when you throw in the x-factor(being the playoffs) Amare should win. The hope for Yao is his popularity. The NBA might push the award his way. You can't look at these stats and put in the x-factor and make a case that Yao deserves it more than Amare, unless you are a serious homer or David Stern.

The Suns beat us out by one game, I don't see how them making the playoffs reflects on Amare? If you look at how Yao was double even tripple teamed during each of his games this season, and the fact that he still was able to put up similar numbers; should show that Yao has the "x-factor." Amare was only double teamed when the other team mistook him for Marion.

Oh, and who won the season series Houston or the Suns, and who played better in those games...

What a shock that you would vote for Amare.

You are the biggest Yao basher and anti-Rockets fan on this BBS.

If I had a search, I would say the majority of your posts within this last season have focussed on why Yao sucks or why Yao doesnt deserve this or that.

Frankly, I think it's a racial issue and I'll say that unapolegetically as I rarely use the so-called "race card".

Yes, Im saying it right here, you are a bigot.
