I'm perplexed how he didn't block the freaking punt; he very nearly was there ahead of the snap. I know it's bang-bang... but I wonder if the WWE-mentality didn't lead to a body blow, as opposed to a leg/ball blow? I mean... seriously: how did he NOT block that??

He literally outran the kick. Had the kick been made earlier, it would have hit him. But instead, his body passed over where the ball was going to be and slammed into the kicker just when his foot hit the ball, narrowly missing Braman's torso. I've never seen such a thing. I lol'd then I had a sad.

Yeah, he got there in plenty of time but had a horrible angle. Has he been coached to know that punters actually step into their punts?

That is certainly up for debate, given, you know, our ST coach...

It looked like he lined up in their backfield - I mean, another second and he might've intercepted the snap (which, if it ever happened, should qualify you for automatic induction into Canton. Seriously- how BA would that be? President of the USA if you intercept a snap *and* run it in for six).

If he got there literally a micro-second earlier, that ball goes flying wildly straight up into the air (if not behind McAfee) or falls harmlessly to the ground. I can't blame the dude for being so bad ass he OVERblocked a punt.

He dove as to not take a square hit to the left ribcage. Watch the play again.
Didn't impact the game as directly as not getting 3-9 points from Fat Randy.

Nobody will go with somebody when stats and data backup otherwise but I honestly blame Wade Phillips more than anything and then if I was to pinpoint a player it would be Jonathan Joseph.

Wade Phillips on 3rd & Goal from 9 or 11 (I don't remember exactly) sent a house blitz and left all corners on an island (particularly BRICE MCCAIN ON TY HILTON). I'm not defensive coordinator but you DIDN'T HAVE to call that call on defense in that situation. If you rush with your normal 4 and drop back everybody else in a zone it's A LOT more difficult for a QB to pick up that TD then against man coverage where if you are accurate you can win.

2ndly I have been a major advocate of Jonathan Joseph in the years but I think it's time for us to realize what is unraveling in front of us here. Jonathan Joseph is not good enough anymore. He was a SHUT DOWN corner and now can barely cut it on a #1. T.Y Hilton absolutely destroyed him throughout the game as I re-watched.

Finally according to Wade Phillips we were in zone on that long bomb to T.Y which means Brice McCain played it wrong on that play. Either way though it's very sad that we GOT BURNED ON THE SAME PLAY 3 times in a row now. Last year, this game against D.Heyward Bey (even though it was a bogus PI call on Kareem, and then against J.Jo and B.McCain). Honestly this defense really needs to look at itself in the mirror and ask themselves if they can play 4 Quarters of football at an Elite level.

All this being said the defense isn't our real problem (these are just things you can point at) but really the Special Teams is. Keyshawn Martin has unfortunately not been guided correctly (on Marciano), the FG kicker can't make a damn FG (on the kicker), our Punt Coverage has been horrendous (on Marciano), our team racks up WAY TOO MANY PENALTIES FOR THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Marciano should have been fired a long time ago I think we all know that already but the most shocking part of all...

...I haven't verified the statsheet but I believe we have OUTPRODUCED every team this season. It is possible that had we just played clean football we would have won EVERY SINGLE GAME this year. Of course you can always flip the coin on us and say we could have lost em all as well but I just think it's time someone wakes up in the front office and says mistakes WILL NOT BE TOLERATED PERIOD because that will be when and only when we start winning football games.

Came out in the 1st with something to prove. Came out in the 3rd playing passive trying to protect a lead. Rather than aggressive to add to the lead. You KNOW Luck is gonna take a run at you.

And what did the Texans choose to do in response? Rely on the kicker....

I kind of agree with the OP, but I find it odd that one would basically cut out all the things not in favor of the Texans in this game.

Penalty yards: 86-15 for a 71 yards in favor of Colts
Starting Field Position: Indy average 29yd line. Houston average 26yd line. Overall 30 yards in favor of the Colts.

Add 101 yards to the Colts offense, and some points to the FG discrepancies, and it looks pretty even to me. You'd expect a 3pt game from that.

At the time I didn't like the call, but knowing what we know now you're right.
