Are you watching the same games. He is a beast on the boards!

His offense skills are limited but we have another players who can fill the basket so we aren't dependent on that part of his game.

yes i'm watching the same game, and yes, he's a beast on the boards (for what, 2 of the games?).

i expect him to be more than just a defensive specialist and rebounding machine. in other words, i expect him to be more than another ben wallace. i expect him to dominate on offensive as well and so far, he hasn't shown anything close to that.

we also need to get better at getting him touches but that's another discussion.

Howard and Asik is as advertised. They are beasting on the board and defense. Any offense is cream on top. Howard is legit all-pro center. He just needs to improve his offense. I think he has way too much muscle and too stiff for any of the Hakeem's dream moves. But he's at least hitting free throws.

RAPM, a stat that the Rockets clearly track, also supports Lin being the better player overall last year.

There is no such thing as 3rd star here. There are Howard and Harden, and there are rest of the team.

I thought both Parsons and Lin are playing for the Rockets, why people here tried to put one down to promote the other?

Parson is a good slasher, fast break finisher, and 3pt shooter, he can't create nor can he handle the ball....that to me is not a big 3 candidate....because he is always on the receiving end to finish.

i think the key is also having a jeremy lin or cisco or casspi..that can come in and score 20 as well...or a beverly who can make the same impact on the defensive end.

Some of you are just dumb... We don't have three stars. We have two stars and a team full of role players. Some are better, some are worse. On offense, either Parsons, Lin, and Garcia fills the role of 3rd and 4th options. Sometimes Casspi and Brooks may join them. On D, you usually have Parsons, Beverley, Lin, Garcia, and sometimes Brewer service as third and 4th option for our defensive stars Howard and Asik. Asik, Parsons, Lin, Beverley, and whomever you want to try to throw in here are NOT stars. They are FAR from stars. They are role players, some of the really good ones like Asik, Parsons, and Lin. Over these few games, Lin has been tremendous for us. Parsons definitely was a hero against the Jazz, but kind of poo poo otherwise. We should be thankful, that crazy fan baggage aside, that Morey has been able to accumulate all these powerful role weapons to support our stars. like any sports, this is a war of attrition. We play 82 games a season. Harden and Howard will hit walls and slump. Same with any one of our shooters. There is no room for bickering about who does what. The only thing we should care about is who will come up when when we need a weapon to fire at opponents. Do I care if AB, or Lin, or Asik, or Harden takes the final shot as long as it goes in? Hell no! I might raise an eyebrow or curse if I see Howard or Asik being the one to launch a three ball, but heck, there is a reason I am not in the trenches on the sideline.

hahah.. c'mon, i'm not being that tough at all, am I?

seriously, how he has played so far (at least 1/2 of his game) is nowhere close to what was expected when he signed. yeah, he's prob not 100%, chemistry with new team, etc. i get that.

but, after three games, you can't tell me with a straight face that his offensive output is what you've expected. c'mon, we're talking the best center in the league here, a max player.

I didn't have high hopes for his offensive impact, so that's probably why I'm not disappointed. I mostly expected him to rebound and block like crazy, and draw double teams to get other guys open. So far, I think he's done a pretty good job at those things, though I think he could stand to pass out of the double teams a little more often. The fact that teams double team him in the first place suggest that they view him as an offensive threat, which is really all we need. Big offensive numbers would be the icing on the cake for me.

Just the same last year Parsons was ranked 23rd in player efficiency at his position and Lin was ranked 34th at his. One scoring 15 ppg and one scoring 13. That's not great for either one. It's like arguing who had the better season over two guys who had an averaged year. Jarrett Jack and Wilson Chandler came off the bench and had around the same numbers as Parsons and Lin and both are ranked higher in player efficiency rankings. Hopefully this year both Parsons and Lin will improve.

Those numbers were pretty good. There's a lot of talent at the SF position in the NBA.

Statistically, he was our second best player last year. Parsons is not a "star" and I don't recall the OP saying that. He is a very important player on our team however.
