Stevie Franchise is NOT "the best at his position"

Dammit I hate Rockets games like last night. Is it me or are we the only team who has such inconsistent showings like the ass whipping we took last night?

I thought last night's game was a perfect example that Steve is trying way too hard to be a point guard. He needs to relax, not worry abot TRYING to get everybody involved and just play. Getting people will come once he gets back to scoring and attacking and starts getting double teamed again. He is making all the wrong decisions right now. And he needs to keep his mouth shut until he starts playing better (i.e., last week with reference to his quote towards Jason Kidd saying that he was "at the top of his position in the NBA.") Whatever.

Give him time. He's still young. That's what happens sometimes when players leave school too soon. Becoming disciplined and being able to hone one's fundamental skills are some advantages of staying in school. He's only going to get better. I'd agree by saying that he's not the best point guard in the league. Though he could be the best sometime soon.

Also, I missed last night's game unintentionally. However, I can relate to how you feel about these frustrating inconsistencies. Losing to the Clippers and beating the Lakers for example.

Don't worry it took Gary Payton awhile before he hit it big time in the NBA.

Yeah, but I think Gary had that jerk thing locked up way before then.

...or is he a punk? He's certainly not a standup guy.

Why did you have to bring up the Clippers loss? I'm still embarassed to be a fan after that nightmare of a game.

Exactly, It took Payton a few years (about 4) to make his mark and look at him now (future hall of famer)! It will happen with Francis too.

Funny how people always come around to my way of thinking eventually.

    DaDakota,

If you think anything against a Rockets player, you can be sure people will agree at some point, because as we all know one loss means the season is over and we're lottery bound according to most of the BBS. [IMG]

There is no doubt in my mind that Steve is going to be one of, if not the, best point guards around for a long time. I seriously think he is trying to make it happen way too hard right now though. Remember the last 15 games of last season when we were kicking everybody's asses including some of the major playoff teams? Why didn't we pick up righ from there?

On another note, 15 games into the season and I know Mo Taylor's enotire offensive game. C Web knew it last night too. It's not that hard to play defense on him.

    I second everything Newtown said.

Stevie Blunder is nowhere near the best PG in the league. I like Steve just as much as the next guy, but he's got a long way to go and isn't showing signs of improving. The way I see it he is trying to become something he isn't, a pure PG. He needs to realize(possibly with the help of Rudy) that some nights he will need to get his teammates involved and some nights he will need to take the bull by the horns and score at will. I just think he's trying to fit a mold he doesn't fit in.

Personally I think that Steve is one of the best in the league at his position. And the only reason this topic got brought up is becasue the rockets lost if they won it would be another story. Its not Stevie's fault they los he wasn't the only one missing shots on the Rockets.

Remember how hard it was to watch Cuttino jack up all the shots (which he still does but in a much improved way) in the fourth qrt. and watch the Rox lose. Rudy knew what he was doing, he saw that kind of talent in cuttino. Now look at what Cat has become. Steve is going through that phase right now, his responsibilities are different from last year now.

    The Cat,

All I am saying is that people have annointed Steve as a "Super Star" and he is far from it in my opinion. He is not even an all star at this point.

Now, with that being said, I think he will get there, but he is not even close now.

There are very few "SuperStars" who come right into the NBA as such. Hakeem, Larry, Magic, MJ, and more recently, Carter, Iverson, Duncan etc..etc..

Francis is not in that class....YET !!
