Hey now? You mean after last year you thought that this team had what it took to take the next step? Three glaring issues needed to be addressed which was qb, playcalling and the secondary. Some fans might say we had a good year we went 12-4 and its all butterflies and rainbows. In the words of the great philosopher Ricky Bobby "if you're not first you're last".Btw Boston wins yet another championship, something to be said about ownership that demands excellence.
Yes! No but be smart and make the changes that will. The bottom dollar and filling seats are some owners priorities.
Bob McNair could do that here without nearly maxing out the cap every season, and refusing to re-sign any possible free agent.
They were never going to keep him, even if he had somehow become a break-out linebacker in the 3-4 system. The Texans had the best defense they have ever had the year he got injured. Had he put together the quality initial years that Foster, Andre, and Cushing did... he would have been extended before he ever had gotten to FA.
Everyone can blame the owner, and say it's about the money (and that's true) but us as fans need to take a stand. Hit McNair where it'll hurt most, his wallet. Fans stop flocking and selling out every.single.game. Then good ol Bob will have no choice. We have that power to boycott his product (namely Kubiak) and that'll surely motivate him to take action. I get nauseous at the sight of Bob these days.
Kubiak better be in the hot seat. We've lost 5 games in a row, and almost lost the 2 games we actually won. Can blame Schaub to a certain degree, but c'mon...
Generally? Yes. Cushing was set to return; JJo was presumably getting healthy; I liked the addition of Hopkins, who added a new dimension to the offense, and I thought, if healthy, Reed brought to the table exactly what the D lacked last year - a smart, experienced ballhawk. I assumed the right side of the line would be better with a year under their belt, and I've known for quite some time that the coaches loved Merciless. I never thought Schaub would take so much off the table. He was a concern, of course - but I thought at worst, he could do just enough, stay out of everyone's way and be carried to the playoffs. Morphing into a game-crashing turnover machine was completely and totally out of nowhere. As for Kubiak, I'm on record: I think this has been a playoff-caliber roster since 2009. And assuming there's no miracle comeback this year, 2013 will be the third time in five years he failed to reach the postseason, and the second time the team has posted a losing record (again, assuming they don't right the ship), which matches his playoff appearences. Unacceptable and a fireable offense, IMO.
No our hand wasn't forced. When Cushing he was put on IR and we had a roster spot open, which we used to sign Barret Ruud. Holliday's space on the 53 man roster was used to promote Cody White a offensive guard who wasn't even activated for a game that season, since we had 2 other rookie guards Ben Jones and Brandon Brooks, along with vets Wade Smith and Antonie Caldwell at the guard position. They just blamed him for the lack of production at the return spot during the regular season at that point in time and only for Holliday's and Jones' success else were to prove that the majority of the blame probably wasn't the returners' fault.
