Could this be a potential problem? Dwight was almost non existent when they played Zone defense. Our guys couldn't get him the ball. I started getting flashbacks of Yao Ming and how at the time, the team had problems getting him the ball against certain defenses. There were a few times when Dwight did get good position but either our guys didn't see him or can't make that pass to him.

Hopefully, this isn't a way to stop or contain our big guy.

That's the point of certain zones... to stop the inside game.

Penetration and ball movement will beat the zone. We have to adjust and hit our outside shots also.

I'm not so sure it took Howard out of the game as much as Coach attacked it with zone busting plays, in turn. One way to do that is pull the big out to high post and cut under it, to get the zone to move and attack the seams -- rather than stubbornly trying to go low post, which many zones are designed to clog up

It would be worth rewarching. Can anyone post the zone possessions with Howard on the floor? I'm no advocate of zone in the NBA, because too many guards can beat it, and passing busts it pretty easily too. But got to give Carlisle credit. He got Dallas to buy into it and they play it well

I stil think their zone is mainly to protect Nowitzki though

We didn't apply pressure to the zone and then we played into the perimeter game that they were giving us since they were taking away the middle penetration, luckily we were able to knock down some of those shots from deep. We need to be more aggressive since the 2-3 zone's biggest flaw is giving up some easy offensive rebounds, which we should be able to dominate once they figure out the zone scheme.
