This from today's bskball.com/rumors.htm. Here's hoping the Kings don't win the championship!

WEBBER TO ROCKETS?: Chris Webber is going to make a lot of teams happy as the C-Webb Free Agent tour takes its spin around the league. Webber is doing the smart thing and staying neutral, and that has every fan and team hoping that he elects to dump the Kings and move to differing pastures.
Yesterday, it was the Rockets spot, and the questions were the same. Although Webber's answers were surprisingly revealing. Webber has a cousin who lives in Houston, who according to Chris has been lobbing him hard to come and play in Houston. When asked about Houston as a viable landing spot, Webber said "I definitely like Houston. Right now, I'm not even thinking about where I'm going to play. Right now, I don't think that would be fair to my team. My job is to try to be the best power forward I can be this year. And then, at the end of the season, I'll sit back and digest it all and see what I can do then. I'm trying not to focus on that. I don't want this to be a distraction to me. I want to continue playing like I've been playing. When I was in Washington, I worked out with Steve, a lot before he came to the pros. I knew he was going to be a great player. We would have hard workouts with Walt Williams, and after the workout was over, Steve would be running the stairs. I really love him. I love watching him. Every time on the dish, I love watching him and Cuttino play, especially at the end of the game, and they're still dunking it with the game over. It's going to be fun watching them mature." The Kings as a team feel they have made their sales pitch and have basically left the subject alone. Webber himself has said he really does not plan to weigh anything until the season is over, at which time he has said that he hopes to be compelled in on direction or another, and that he will make the decision that puts him in the best position to win a championship.

This is straight from the Houston Chronicle this morning, but it isn't credited there.

Webber didn't really say anything to be honest... I personally don't think we have much of a shot, especially consdering Sacramento is looking very, very good.

That sounds bad ass. Now we know that C-Webb WILL be considering the Rockets. However, if we don't make the playoffs, we might as well forget about it. Webber has repeatedly said that he wants to play for a contender. In that case, he really has no reason to come to a young, erratic team like the Rockets. He may as well stay in Sacto with Vlade, Peja, and J-Dubb.

I would not get my hopes up on this webber to Houston thing.. This seems to be a canned response from Webber everyplace we play.. he has most all his family in Detroit and he has already said he would not play there. so I doubt another relative will make a difference. To the owners of this site.. You have done a great job with this site.. my first time here was yesterday and I really like the layout of it.. Go Kings!

but in detroit he would have to play alot of center. i think thats one reason he said he didnt want to play there. we have cato, collier, rogers, and for now Hakeem. he will probably play almost strictly pf in Houston

In the East, a guy like Ben Wallace can easily play center. Mikki Moore isn't a bad center either.

I don't think we'll have the money under the cap for Webber, let alone trying to beat NY, Detroit, and the like. But, the best we can do is give it a shot.
