Dwight isn't well liked, so I think it would take an almost superhuman season performance.

If the rockets get farther than last year, then it will look like it's cuz of Howard, and probably rightfully so.
Thus, he gets the mvp. I'm betting that he is gonna be 1a and harden 1b, kinda like how Shaw was 1a and agro Kobe 1b.

Yes he can. He's more important than harden. Till Harden plays defense then well debate.

That's pretty stupid. Sound like a fan that would say Stephen curry because he is more fun to watch. What Dwight fans? I don't see many.

I think he's a likely candidate for overall MVP, but I think the guy whose poised to get his first MVP season is Durant. I think he's really going to need to take his game to yet another level on both ends to get that team home court in the playoffs. Having Westbrook back, who might not be 100%, will help take some pressure off so he wont have to force as much as last year in the playoffs.

I think Lebron's usage goes down a little bit this year during the regular season, and they might have some stretches where they aren't a real dominant force in the regular season because they want to be fresh in the playoffs.

Dwight, is the clear favorite for DPOY, but unless he puts up career highs in offensive numbers, I think the general public will still put him as #3, 4, or 5 in the ranking. Harden might actually be higher though than Dwight if all goes well.

Yes he could. When healthy and motivated he is the second best player in the world (unless Durant makes the jump to elite defender).

He is the villain so if we get the 1 seed. I think the voters will go to whoever has the 1 seed in the East and crown them MVP. Unless they give it to James, who is in actuality our best player.

I haven't read through all the posts, but I'd think the MVP would be someone who can dominate offensively/defensively on his own. Defensively, yes no doubt. But a good portion of D12's offensive game is dependent on a PNR guard. He can create for himself....he's just not that good at it (enough to be considered for the MVP) IMO.

Certainly Howard could win the MVP. But LBJ will probably win that trophy. Howard is a transformational player capable of lifting a bunch of mediocre players to the finals. If Howard stays healthy he will probably be in the top three in MVP voting this season. There is a definite possibility that Howard could average 20 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks this season and win DPOY. If he does that he will certainly be in the running for the MVP.

Harden would have to dish major assists like Nash to make up for his D. And he'd have to leapfrog Rose and Durant.

Howard would not only have to become a dominant scorer, but do it with enough skill to overcome mainstream perception.

We would need to be the 1 seed for him to win though.

It's a long season as well.. give it 5 games, then 25 games and see how healthy LBJ/Durant and Dwight are. Let's see where we are in 2 months seeding wise.

No way Howard gets MVP he doesn't play guard or looks like it.

I doubt it. It's LeBron's to lose, if he keeps up what he did last season. If Durant plays better defense, and people are tired of LeBron, he'll probably be the next one who has a meaningful shot.

Anyone else, is like buying lottery ticket - technically, there is a small chance.

This sounds wayyy more probable but yeah, he'd basically have to play like the second coming of Bill Russell to win it over Lebron.
