I like Lin's chances of getting 6th MOY if he gets to really come off the bench every game. I have a feeling McHale will rotate if Bev doesn't do well in certain games as starter.

Exactly. If all these people really only had a problem with posters they perceive to be LOFs, there's a very simple and logical solution: the ignore function. A simple click of a button and a little extra scrolling and your LOF problems are solved.

If these LOF posters are really as bad as some seem to think, the problem will sort itself out when everyone ignores them. After all, this is an internet forum: you can't control who comes in nor can you change anyone's opinion. Why are they are wasting their time b*itching about the number of Lin-related posts, arguing with LOFs, and creating outlandish strawman arguments when they could be doing the thing they claim to want to do (i.e. discuss the Rockets)? The answer should be obvious to anyone.

honestly I feel that Lin fans aren't offended by this, in fact we embrace in it. What really tick people off is the fact that you're part of a success, went through the struggle, and then all of a sudden your boss take your work away and give it to someone else. I think thats what really bothered everyone.

He worked his butt off last year and was put in the bench on a whim without a chance to prove that he can work with the starters.

I love that hes on the bench though.

p.s I also love that despite having two point guard down, our 3rd string pg for that game was Arron freaking brooks. This team has so much depth and weapons.

This vocal minority also can't help but engage every Lin post they hate, which in turn, generates even more Lin posts that they hate.

I can take your point of view peacefully, even though my view is somewhat different. There is no reason for player's fans not wanting the best for the team as well. After all, everyone wants to be on a winning team. Lin has contributed to winning many times just like last night, and he never cause issues even if things don't go his way. He should be appreciated.

I think Lin would offer a great spark off the bench, I think having 2 good contributing PGs will go a long way, especially late in the season.

BTW, new to the board, Greetings from Laredo!

Why is this thread a sticky? Who is trolling who?

I think the Rockets may be starting with TOO much defense by starting Bev. The twin towers, Harden's extra effort, and Parson's renewed committment to get back to his first year defensive effort is MORE defensive than probably any other team in the league can put up ultimately, even if Lin is starting.

But if Bev and one of the twin towers then goes to the bench, 2 of our 3 best defensive players sit then. I think the more logical solution is to have more offense in to start the game with your defensive anchors of Asik and Howard. That's why I believe Lin should start and eventually will start again, unless McHale is not just experimenting, but really dislikes this kid.

Lin provides another penetrating ball handling threat, other than Harden to keep the defense honest with the starting unit. His 3 point shooting statistics are almost identical to Bev's for the exact same period that they have both been on the team. Where this idea came from that Bev is a much better spot up 3 point shooter, I have no idea; because there are NO statistics to prove that.

Bev was not as aggressive to start the game on defense as he is when he comes off the bench...imho. So you are taking his strengths away when you start him. If Bev continues to start, this will show up even more as he collects more fouls, less steals or gets torched by the likes of Parker, Rose, CP3 and other elite PGs, just like Lin would.

Either way, no matter who starts, I just want the Rockets to win...and win BIG!

I have to say Lin gets to that basket at will. Constantly blowing by people. Forget defense, let's just out score them like last year.

Red Auerbach was asked what is more important offense or defense?
He said both are equally important. You can't win without scoring, or without stopping anyone.

I agree. When you have a defense stop, you want to turn it to instant offense. Who is doing better at this? I'd argue it would be Lin, CP, and James in that order, based on what we saw from last season. How many times did we see that Lin immediately initiated the fast-breaks, usually with CP at the receiving end and then finishing, once receiving the pass from the bigs after defense rebound.I noticed that PB has the tendency to hold or dribble the ball instead of looking down the court once the bigs passing him the ball, including last night. You want to have a quick long pass before the other team's defense sets. This is what I like the most of Lin, who knows when to initiate fast-breaks and when to slow down to have half-court offense. I think he is even better than James in this aspect of game. It is also a bonus that Lin can penetrate and finish himself. With TT starting, defense rebounding will be plenty. You want take advantage of it with Lin as the starting pg.

Lin, James, CP, and Asik have built an unbelievable chemistry towards the end of last season. Why makes additional unnecessary changes is beyond me? If Coach McHale sticks with PB, I really wish he can develop that instinct fast. As for me, I also wish the Rockets to win...and win BIG! I happen to believe that Lin starting and PB from the bench would give us a better chance.

Personally I'm a huge fan of having a really good sixth man. Not only can he run the offense when Harden is on the bench (he should be in all times Harden is out), but having someone who could potentially go off any night would be great to have as a spark when the offense just isn't playing well. Plus, I think Beverley fits the first team better anyway.
