Beverley is no where near the PG than Lin is. The only reason he's starting is because is has above average on ball defense.

Lin's "playmaking" consists of driving to the paint & jumping into the air with no idea what to do, OR driving to the paint and not finishing a wide open layup.

I agree Bev is not much of a playmaker, but let's not pretend Lin is Derrick Rose...

Essentially, the Rockets don't just want to be a very good and exciting team, which is what they'd be with Lin at starting PG. They want a ******* championship NOW, and that means having to beat the Miami juggernaught.

The marginal offensive benefit that Lin brings as a starter just doesn't outweight the marginal defensive benefit that Beverley brings, at least in the Rockets view. Moreover, and perhaps most crucially, the marginal offensive benefit that Lin brings as a 6th man is significantly greater than the marginal offensive benefit that Beverley brings as the PG for the bench.

Maybe I'm mangling up the economic terms a bit, but it's about comparative advantage.

And you also want the last shot in the game, but 99% of players in the NBA won't get that. What's your point?

Lin shot 62.4% at the rim. Harden shot 63%.

I have to disagree with this. Lin is a good passer and more than adequate at driving to the rim. Sure he can jump up and screw himself over sometimes but almost all young pg's do that. He will learn not to do that. He's too bright not to. The main problem that I see with Lin is that he doesn't seem to strike a good balance between aggressive recklessness and patient control. He has improved over last year from what I saw in the preseason but it is just the preseason.

Don't bother responding. He clearly has no idea what he's talking about or is simply lying.

Nobody really wants to be a 6th man. Even JR Smith the reigning 6th man of the year prefers to be a starter and complains about it often to the NY media.

Last year Jeremy in a moment on honesty told the media on camera "of course he wants to be the starter and everyone cares who starts".

But he's the 6th man so JLin and either cry about it or act like a team player. Glad he is staying classy.

Well, seems like some people think it's a demotion.

    Even higher in crunch time.
As you said, young player will learn.

You think all the assists JLin had were flukes? Also, why are you even bringing Derrick Rose into this equation? You don't have to be a Derrick Rose to be a good play maker. That's like saying Chandler Parsons sucks because he isn't Lebron James.
