What are they like? Are they worth catching at Verizon Wireless theater?

I used to like the pumpkins, but that was before I became a shriveled up old fart who doesn't know any new music anymore.

I can't imagine them playing less than 50 percent Smashing Pumpkins material.

Well, I am going to be biased and say hell yeah they are worth catching to see at Verizon.

If you liked the Pumpkins during the time of Gish and Siamese Dream, you will like Zwan. You won't find them being like the Machina Pumpkins.

Who'd have thunk I'd find a Zwan post on a Rockets board!

I'm going to the show on Monday. Their album is pretty good but believe me...it aint the Pumpkins. I picked it up because the Pumpkins drummer plays on it and he's really good. Plus Corgan can still shred. But make no mistake, it's very different. Good, but different.

I heard that they don't play ANY Pumpkins material at their shows. :( I hope I'm wrong. BTW, I'm an old fart who still digs new music!

I just had some tix given to me.

I can't believe I'm even hesitating.....back in the day, I didn't have to be asked; I was usually the one organizing concert outings.

But....I'm not as wild anymore, and I don't know the first thing about Zwan.....maybe I'll download some mp3's tonight.

Zwan is awesome. Listen to Lyric and Honestly.. two very good songs. Just imagine Pumpkins on Prozac.

Exactly, all the songs are very happy sounding. There is one song however that is very Pumpkin'esqe. Mary Star of the Sea is about 14 minutes long with an extended guitar solo at the end. My personal fav.

Siamese Dream is one of the best albums I own. Excellent flow, and perfect for a long drive. Cherub Rock was my favorite.

I'll be at the show on Monday as well.

Don't expect to hear any Pumpkins material at the show, as someone else said, they don't play any. Their sound is alot happier than what the Pumpkins' was, but I think it's pretty good. Mary Star of the Sea/Jesus I is the best song combo on that cd!

I like the new album alot and will be going to the show. You should defintely download a few songs to check them out. What i've heard is they don't play any old SP songs at the shows.

I'm going. Looking forward to it.

Any idea what time they start or if there is an opener?

Siamese Dream is probaly one of the top 5 albums of the 1990s.

I like Zwan, but I liked the pumpkins a lot better. Managed to catch back to back nights in Houston/Austin on their farewell tour and I was amazed. They're one of the few bands that I still listen to that I was listening to when I was 15 years old.

    *bump*

I heard that Zwan gets on sometime between 9 and 915 in case you want to avoid the opening band, who plays for something like 35 minutes.

Oh, and so far every show has had 2 encores, so dont leave early.

Making an issue out of nothing here, but I think it's lame when someone show up late to "avoid" the opening band. Why not try exposing yourself to new music? If the headliner likes them, you might like them as well. Too many people are narrow-minded about what they're willing to listen to.

Of course, if you've actually listened to the opener previously and think they're crap, then I guess skipping them could be justified.

someone please take a shoe to throw at Billy Corgan in hopes that if it hits him, he and Zwan won't ever return to Houston.

He he he....i think they got their fill of that at Lollapalooza back in the day, when they headlined instead of the Beastie Boys, who clearly dominated the evening!

    Good times....

Ahh the legendary "shoe incident" during the same tour in Austin he made fun of the crowd for not being "rocking" or something like that, then the band played slow songs for the rest of the show. I'm bitter cause I don't get to go to the show ... :(
