When was the last time you were this excited when the season started?

Last season. I get hyped at the start of every season. It's bizarre, but some part of me always thinks the Rockets are going to do well. Then, sometime around January, I just enjoy watching things develop.

I'm an incorrigible homer. I know it.

But, this might be the season where being a homer actually makes sense. I started watching the year before Yao got drafted (when I first moved to Houston), and now it looks like ... maybe?

 

08/09, the Artest addition and we didn't know that TMac was gonna be gone yet.

The debate between having Artest as the 6th man or Battier as the 6th man was awesome.

Damn, I miss that team

 

As an avid NBA fan, I'm excited for both the Rockets and the league. I can't remember the last time there were soooo many good/contending teams in the league. There are 6 legit contenders in the West alone. It's going to be a thrill to see the Rockets and these teams go up against each other.

 

I've always thought that picture was fake. McGrady is like 6'9"... and Yao is more than a foot taller than him in that picture. That would make Yao about 8 feet tall in that image.

 

After Rudy T declared at the end of the prior season "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion".

I was this excited back in 08-09 when we signed Artest and we had a healthy Tmac and Yao going into the season. we also had an awesome supporting cast with Battier, Scola, Rafer, Dikembe, Brooks, and later Lowry.

What a team that was. a team that should've won a title, but Yao went down in the Semis.

and of course, Tmac was out....

But this season, with all these players being relatively new, makes it that much more fun. there's so much potential. so young. no injury backgrounds.

I was excited in 08 when we got Ron Artest, but super excited to the same level as I am now when we got Tracy McGrady back in 04.

 

when we got yao. then when we got tmac and then ron ron.

R.I.P big yao. stay away from peeps with table legs, ron ron.

 

Not fake... Yao is just standing a little closer to the camera than everyone else is all

 

i am excited every year

every year brings new opportunities, new areas to see our youngsters grow, and areas where the Rockets can play a larger role in the greater Houston community

this year, i feel that we on paper may have a more talented team but I am not overly excited about the type of characters we have on this team (father of 8 illegitimate children, player that actively engages in soliciting hookers) as for me, being able to rebound or make a jumpshot does not mean a person can be a douche bag in real life

my favorite Rockets have always been high character guys (hakeem, Battier, Yao, Bullard etc) and we just don't have enough of them these days

 

i'm excited every year and daydream about shocking everyone and winning the championship, but this is the first time i can remember being so excited AND having legit hype surrounding the team. we have marketable stars this time, exciting chemistry AND we're crazy deep. rockets are going to be all over commercials this year, national tv...it's a different ballgame.
