Since we're going to the stats, we see who's better than our star center. You mean our star center is being out rebounded by a bunch of power forwards? If we're happy with our suppsedly Franchise center being average then we are really in trouble. And until Yao can stop Osterfat I mean Osterag from serving up the facials, Steve isn't the only poor defender on this team.

P.S. Let the Yao excuses now commence...

I think you have some logic problem. Why do you bring yao into the argument? When I said francis is average (actually u said it) point guard and poor defender, it didnt imply that yao is a good center or good defender. You can diss yao whenever you want, I dont care as long as it is reflecting the fact. So do you mean that the "average" performance of francis is excused by the "poor" performance of yao?

I onlys aid that to prove that your logic was off. To say SF is only average because of how many PG's average more assists per game is the same as syaing Yao is average because of how many players average more rebounds a game. You have to add in the whole picture.

Yao is better than most of the people ahead of him on the rebounding list becuase of the other things he brings to the table, his shooting, passing, and shot blocking.

And Steve is better than most of the most of the people ahead of him on the list becuase of his scoring and rebounding.

I'm really tired of all the arguements becuase neither one of those two are the problems with the team. It's just really pathetic that we have turned on one of our star players.

If Steve really was the problem, then we should have gone to the playoffs last year since he missed so much time. We should have been a much better team without his stupid and selfish play. However, I seem to remember a horrible record (2 and 25 I think) without him, so he must have been doing something right to make such a difference in wins and losses for this team.

Steve does add wins to this ball club. No one can argue that. No one. :)

However, I could care less if Steve Francis destroys the Chicago Bulls or the Cleveland Cav's. They are NOT playoff contender teams. Beating them is like having sex with a prostitute and then bragging about getting laid. Sure you had sex but it doesn't really count. I'm glad we get the win cause it helps our chances of getting to the playoffs but in the end who cares about those wins.

What i'm concerned about is competing against the elite teams.

No one is telling Steve to never dribble the ball up and take it to the hole. Dammit, I love it when he does that. Just do it FASTER. He is Marbury like when it comes to dribble penetration. It's when he sits there with the ball dribbling and scratching his head like...I'm out of an idea that gets to me.

Make quick decisions. Learn how to pass the dam ball if he is not going to penetrate to the hole or take a shot. :) Freaking A, you only have 20 some seconds to develop a play. Yes, I'm picking on the Franchise. Hell he is given the max contract, should we not expect more from him?

It's just like Yao Ming. He has pretty good shooting touch but he gives up his position to easily down in the paint and doesn't know how to re create the position (watch SHAQ TAPES). Ming needs to get stronger. If Ming doesn't get stronger then you will see me in the board next year criticizing Ming as well.

    It's that simple.

I guarantee you that Ming will not get significantly stronger during the off-season when he plays for the NT team.

It's a simple question and i'll give a simple answer...Maybe we make the playoffs this year with caron or amare or any of those other guys...but with YAO we have a potnential CHAMPIONSHIP team for years to come.SO ask yourself this; Do you wanna be in the playoffs and get knocked out in the first round every year for the next 5 years or do you want to be patient and be a championship CONTENDER!!

You think if the Rockets have traded Francis for Desmond Mason,Rashard Lewis, Drobnjak. Drafted Jay Williams, and past Yao Ming up.

    C- Drobnjak
    PF- Lewis
    SF- Mason
    SG- Mobley
    PG- Willams

This team looks better. Probably better.
    Eddie Griffin 6th man

Rockets are find thou, Yao Ming is a Great player. They need to sign Danny Fortson or Ruben Patterson in the offseason.

Yao Ming will be the best center in the league when Shaq leaves. Next season i bet ming will avg 17/10 a game.

Are you an idiot? It was larry's problem. Ever since he became the "coach", the whole team went downhill.

Trade Mooochie away, but this is difficult, since every team knows he has no game.
Trade Mobley, he is just a greedy ISO fool.
No veteran who can play on the team.
Trade SF, he is just not as good as Kobe or Bibby.

No, we did not draft the wrong guy. Look at this season as a whole, how much more excitement and inspiration he has brought to the fans all over Houston, the country, and the world?

Yao Ming is a true team player. He 100% excutes what a coach says. He has exposed the biggest problem Rox has had - lack of team play.

There's also some culture difference here. Chinese culture is a collective culture. Players in a team put the team's interest ahead of their own, and they try to diminish personal glory as much as they can. And a chinese player listens to the coach no matter what it takes. Coaches are very well respected, no matter how much less money they make than his players. The Chinese players in a team live together (in assigned dorms), eat together, and grow up together - a true sense of brotherbood, with the coach being the strict but kind 'parent'. Most Chinese people repect their parents very much and listen to them wholeheartedly. And teachers are treated with the 'parent' level of respect.

American culture is more individualized and independent. Quite some players put their own interest 1st. And it's not that a shameful thing to do here. And often, coaches don't make as much money as their players, another possible reason for the lack of respect to the coach's decisions from the rich players, especially in a society that people are often evaluated by how much money they make.

I believe Yao Ming may have gotten confused in the court quite often. He wants to excute the coach's decision strictly, yet he finds his teammates play whatever they want. That could be a very frustrating situation for him.

It made a lot of sense to me looking at it with some cultural difference perspective.

Yao needs time to get used to the American (and NBA) culture, and the Rox needs time to reevaluate the situation and play team basketball.

I believe they'll make big improvement next season.

    Thanks for reading!

Yes I have! I give credit when credit is due. I am not afraid to call a spade a spade when it is a spade! One thing for sure I bear no hate against any one player on the Rockets Team. I lay all the blame on the Coaching Staff for the lack of organised Team Basketball. I consider that I have watched Four Years of Street Ball and I want to see the Rockets get back to Team Basketball. My only concern is that you are not understanding my motives! Which is to have the Rockets go back to the Big Mans Game, with the Player that we might have at Center next season. I just state that you cant have a team in which half think its Guard Oriented and the Other half thinking they are working towards a Center dominated Team. If its going to be Guard Oriented, so be it, but then we need to trade Yao Ming away as Cato will be adequate for our level of Basketball.

Why is there so much complaining. This team was 28-54 last year. If they do not win there last games they still finish at .500. That is a +13 change. Instead of being so upset that the team did not make the playoff to get blown out by teams that normally lost to...BAD.... in the regular season. So they do not get the exprirance of the playoff. The future still looks bright. Instead of being a Mobley-hater, Yoa-Hater, Rudy-hater, Steve hater or hating on anybody on the bench eval the team by position and notice there are only a few holes to fill.

Center B+ Yoa needs a working out but performed head and shoulder above everyone expectations. Cato excepted a backup role and played the his best ball in a rocket uniform :D

Power Forward C- Eddie reminds me of Robert Horry in the regular season. Hopefulle he can perform like Robert Horry in the plays when the RoX get there. Mo' Taylor. Good inside scorer of the bench but Damn play some defence and and get a rebound.

Small forward. B- Poasy is a great fit as a starter. Mario Elie like player. Rice still got it but we need a shooter that can also play defence ot the 3. Rice defence consist of a prayer (please god do not let them go around me).

Shooting Guard: C Say what you will Mobley does his job Offencivly. Get into the paint and shoot threes. He just have 3 problems. 1 he still shoots when his shot is of, 2 defence, defence lack of defence, and 3 his back up is um...um....well non-excestant. which is the reason for the low grade at this position.

Point Guard. A- Steve is a shooting guard in a poiint guard body. if he was 3 inches tall Kobe would be the 2nd best shooting guard in the leage. You can only do so much as a scoring point guard in this league. then he and mobly do not have a true back up just makes it worse. ( if I had to chose 1 player to get rid of it would be big hair Mooch.)

If the roX could bring in a back up shooting guard, somebody about 6'5 or 6'6. Mobley could slide to point and steve could rest then rest mobley and bring back steve. he could also back up Posay and Rice could get a nike sign on his butt. :D then bring in a rebounding thug at PF and the Rox are in Business

hmmm... being able to score 10 more points per game on average qualify TMac as the same?

I agree with you. The rocket need to make decision quickly which way they want to go.
If they go with guard oriented, then trade Yao away since he is not fitting in.
Infact, if they decide to go with guard oriented the answer to the original question is YES! They had draft the wrong guy.

If they decide to go with Center oriented then the guards need to step back and compliment that plan.

So far, they have not done a good job either way so the first step would be making decision and go for it.
