I disagree with your method of evaluating teams. If you're right about the above ratings (and I don't necessarily agree, and don't care to think about it, but let's assume you are), then that right there is a recipe for disaster. First of all, what does 'talent' mean? You say the Rockets are middle of the pack in forwards, I say they're the worst (at least in terms of starters). The guards are dumb. If you're talking about POTENTIAL, then yeah, I agree we have a ton, but potential doesn't win games. Anyway, it doesn't matter how good your team is as a whole, as individual pieces, it matters how good your BEST players are, and how the rest of the players compliment them. Our best players don't have experience and aren't that great. You're talking fantasy ball here. I disagree with your whole premise. I think we'd have just as many wins now if we had John Stockton instead of Francis. Marbury has 3 more years on Francis. Where does that leave us? About where we are.
My point is Larry hasn't done a bad job. That's all, the Rockets only lost one game to a team considered worse, and they beat a team considered better. So you can't just rail on the guy like some people have, saying if Rudy was here the team would have made the playoffs, the team has performed to level. Sure, some of the losses were terrible efforts, but some were pretty good efforts, like Sacramento and L.A. Everyone said, that the Rockets should have taken care of the easier part of their schedule earlier when Rudy was coaching. They new these last games were a tough stretch. But no, your boy Rudy couldn't coach them through Cleveland and Chicago, and New York, and Washington, and the Clippers, and so on. At least while Larry was coaching, the Rockets beat the teams they should have beaten.
At least Marbury gets his teammates more involved than francis. And Marbury is better in control of his game compared to francis who is too erratic.
I bet if the Rockets make the Playoffs, Coach T would get at least a C+ out of respect for him and i think that, that with the amount of talent that the rockets have/record, its pretty clear that a D+ too high of a grade. Also the talent/record ratio also indicated that there is no leader on the court, Thats why we totally fell apart in the last 1/4 of the season. I think that if we had a true leader we wouldnt of gave up. This is somewhat what Glen Rice was trying to do when he spoke out about the team. Trying to play a leadership role. Thats something we need in the offseason; that is bring in someone who is a known leader, who can hold this team together in hard times. Because we have a lot of young kids out there, who truly havent grown up, and mentally matured. If we dont, we can wait until these kids mature, which will take time. But who wants to wait?
