there's no point arguing with the haters. 11 points on 9 shots isn't bad. Would they be happier if he only scored 10 points but shot 5-9 instead?

The bottom line is the haters think he sucks but even when he plays average to above average they have to be outraged over why he didnt play better. 6 assists, 4 boards, paired with 15 ppg 50% shooting? Is that what they want? That's borderline top 10 pg right there. If you dont think he's that good then stop expecting those performances and maybe you won't get so worked up.

I see you like to make things up. Sounds paranoid to me,

I actually agree with what you say and I don't think i would get worked up if anyone praised Lin for finding other ways to contribute if he's not scoring.

He's also one of the key reasons i'm on the board in the first place but having lurked here for quite awhile, a fair load of unwarranted critisicm does go his way regardless of statistical input.

I am glad you pointed out some facts. Many on this board just make things up without evidence.

Come on, lighten up. I was having some fun with Lucky Charm about two incidences where Lin follows his Linsanity performance with flu/sinus infection. No need to get all serious with stats all the time.

People believe what they want to believe.

If you go to this site:

    http://stats.nba.com/leadersGrid.ht...pe=S&StatCategory=EFF&pageNo=1&rowsPerPage=25

you will see the "PER 48" efficiency rankings for the 2013 preseason. They don't actually show the efficiency number, but they do rank players by efficiency. My guess is they are using NBA Efficiency (rather than PER), but I'm not sure.

Now, they seem to list players who have played 6 or more preseason games. Therefore, Lin isn't listed. However, we know what his efficiency number is because I have calculated it in another thread.

Go to the bottom of the page and click the "100" link, so you can see 100 results on the same page rather than just 25.

Lin (around #33, but not listed) and Beverley (#37) are ranked in the top 40 of 260 listed players for the 2013 preseason. That's pretty darn good. Here are the point guards ahead of them and their rankings

    #05 -- Chris Paul
    #06 -- Derrick Rose
    #11 -- Darren Collison
    #22 -- Reggie Jackson
    #24 -- Kyrie Irving
    #25 -- Eric Bledsoe
#36 -- Shaun Livingston (1 spot ahead of Beverley)

Collison has been on a tear, Jackson seems ready for the next step and Bledsoe is doing well. I haven't seen Livingston play much so can't comment.

So, both Lin and Bev are in the Top-10 of listed point guards' efficiency for the preseason. Pretty good, even if it is only the preseason. Here are some point guards/possible point guards whom both Lin and Bev are ahead of in that list:

    Patty Mills
    JJ Barea
    Damian Lillard
    Goran Dragic
    Steph Curry
    Ricky Rubio
    Isaiah Thomas
    Brian Roberts
    Ramon Sessions
    Ty Lawson
    Kyle Lowry
    Andre Miller
    Geroge Hill
    CJ Watson
    Jrue Holiday
    Mo Williams
    Kemba Walker
    Avery Bradley
    Mike Conley
    John Wall
    Jeff Teague
    Steve Nash
    Cory Josepn
    Norris Cole
    Gal Mekel
    John Lucas III
    M Chalmers
    Austin Rivers
    Steve Blake
    Marquis teague
    Toney Douglas
    Nando De Colo
    DJ Augustin

I think people looking to take shots at either point guard at this time are just looking for something to grumble about. Both have played well, even though their level has fallen somewhat since earlier in the preseason. Which is to be expected with the numbers they were/are putting up.

I am on record as saying I'm ok with either guy starting. They've both played well, and the point guard spot is looking solid.

I think both players can "fit" with the starters, as well as the bench. The coaches will do what they think they need to do.

    Great response Dobro!
("Dobro" Means "good" in your native tongue, right?)
    Simple and so true.

    No one f**** up.
Just nice surprises from some guys (Casspi & Bev mostly), who are so far outshining other guys.

I am not saying he sucks, he is redundant.

And, he is severely limited on both ends of the floor, he and Howard occupy the same space only Howard is better than Asik at everything. So we are looking at a 12 minute or so contributor in Asik for about 8 mil in cap hit.

Then you factor in his salary bump next season to 15m, and I think he becomes harder to trade.

To me, he would be better served improving our team through trade.

Only if the right trade is there.

I don't see Howard averaging 36 minutes a game this year. I think probably 32 max. That leaves 16 minutes for Asik in the middle. You give them another 6-7 minutes to play together in each half and you've got Asik at close to 30 minutes. There's no need to wear Dwight down with the 82 game grind of heavy minutes when Asik is around.

And in my opinion, that 28-30 minutes we are going to get from Asik is worth way more than 30 minutes of another stretch-4 PF. The only way you trade Asik is for a serious, serious upgrade at the 4 AND a backup center solution. You gotta get both. So, either he's traded for a guy like Chris Bosh or Aldridge...a guy that can play the 4 more effectively alongside Dwight while backing up Dwight at the 5, or you trade Asik for 2 players....one a serious stretch-4 like Ilyasova or Millsap and the other a quality backup center like Henson or Gortat.

Just flipping Asik for a stretch 4 that is 1) not a superstar or 2) is just another good stretch-4 does not make us better.

Was I the only one who saw the Rockets dominate in 3Q with Howard and Asik on the floor?

Thanks. Its not my native tongue, but yes.

The D-Mo/Jones bashing right now reminds me alot of people's disgust of Budinger back when Parsons beat him out at the start of the season. Its was no indication that Budinger was a bad player, but was an indication that the Rockets hit the jackpot with Parsons.

I guess we've been conditioned over the past few years with all the turnover that now we should expect that Morey will try and trade these guys because they aren't going to be superstars, but I highly doubt that's the case now. Those guys have actually looked good this preseason in the minutes they have played (minus a few bumpy moments). The only reason why they aren't currently in the rotation is cause of great surprises.

He didn't do anything exceptional that game. Played an okay game, but just didn't shoot well - well rather, finish well.
