Most of them are player fans. Why would they root for a team when they don't live there?

I'd say Lakers and Heats are more popular in China. But Rockets have a strong base too.

I have been the biggest troll on this site for a while now but I've got to post just to clear up any confusion. I currently live in shanghai, china and I have the privilege to work with many young kids in recreation sports, particularly basketball. I recently polled 30 students about there favorite basketball player and only 3 kids said Jeremy lin. As expected Kobe and Lebron took the top 2 spots with a majority of the votes. Because this peaked my interest so much, I made a cut out of two random Asian ppl on a piece of paper and lin with their heads only and asked 20 kids to pick Jeremy's face out of the three... The results are shocking, only 11 kids picked correctly. When I did the same thing with Lebron and 2 random black guys, 18/20 picked correctly! Not sure exactly what this tells other than Jeremy lin is not nearly as popular as I expected. Also, from talking to some of the kids, there really seems to be a lot of LOH in china as well. Honestly, it seems like the people who really understand basketball are the Haters... If it wasn't for watching the linsanity live, I would be a LOH as well...
