Finally finished the 24 episode of Attack On Titan. Pretty good show and pretty original but my goodness the pacing was horrendous at time. It's a smart show but trying to be too smart for its own good by trying too hard to explain everything pretty much slow the show down to a crawl at time. Wished the human titans design and animation didn't look too clumsy and stupid at time. But overall looking forward to the new season. Japan are GOD when it comes to cell animation.

I agree. I really enjoyed it in the beginning, but after they closed the hole in the wall, the show went 80% exposition. I'm still trying to finish off the last 5 episodes.

Finished Soul Eater a couple of days ago. I don't know how I survived the last couple of years without it. I hear it's pretty different from the manga, so I'll have to go back and read that.

    Just finished Gurren Lagann.

That was far and away the best anime series I've seen so far.

I've seen people compare Code Geass to it, and IMO Gurren Lagann just blew it away. It's not even close.

The character development was fantastic. The animation is among the best. Music great. Monologues a little corny at times but who the hell cares, they are still epic. Coworker just asked me a question and I replied, "Who the Hell do you think I am?!"

Just looking at where the series started out the first couple episodes and where it ends up. Just the definition of epic.

Deep too. Thinking about it a little more, I'm leaning towards agreeing with the Anti-Spirals, they ****ing make sense. "Humans aren't that foolish"? Wake up, Simon. Look around us today, humans are as reckless and foolish as it gets. That's it. This series has officially pushed me off the edge as far as my faith in humanity. Foreveralone/fml/slitting wrists.

    Spoiler:

After the 8th episode I was like: Oh, so they are doing the whole Attack on Titan thing. Psh, I wonder how they will bring Kamina back. Maybe they make him into an android. Maybe he's a living Gunmen. Predictable.

Each passing episode afterwards it became clear that it was not the case. This wasn't Attack on Titan. That wasn't a fake death. **** got real.

I commend them for that, because it was a ballsy move. Kamina was the driving force of the show, Simon was just some whiny brat that was annoying. To kill off the main character like that, Game of Thrones style, was definitely daring. At one point I didn't really want to continue watching, just because I didn't want to be stuck with Simon as the main character.

And then episode 11 rolls along, and boom. Like I said, I really liked the character development of the series.

All the newer series I've been watching lately, nothing stacks up to this. Attack on Titan? SAO? Geass? Kiddie games down the street.

Lastly, Who the Hell do you think I am?! Good bye cruel world.

Kamina's "Giga Drill Breaker" (subbed version) was probably the most epic part of the show and it came in pretty early. That whole fight scene and dialog was pretty awesome.

    Have to disagree.

Simon's first 'Giga Drill Breaker' in episode 11, following his monologue, which was the culmination of the events surrounding Kamina(death) in the preceding episodes, was not only the most epic part of the show, it was the pinnacle. Not that the rest of the show fell off, it was still great. But that moment, and everything that led up to it: no words, only feels. Oh, the feels.

Okay, I guess I'll go rewatch episode 11 now.

Dont get me wrong, they are both epic, but I prefer Kamina's. Kill Certain.

Check the top comments on the two videos.

    Kamina:

    Simon:

One is an one-liner DBZ trope. The other is a life-affirming experience.

    :p

The actual animation for Kamina's scene was probably more 'epic', but you have to account for what led up to, and the ramifications of the Simon scene:

Simon was an annoying little b**** the first 8 episodes of the show. The 3 episodes afterwards he was a broken annoying little b****. Simon's first Giga Drill Breaker scene is epic because it is the FIRST time we saw the true face of the main character of the series. In the 3 episodes before that scene the viewer was lost, just like the rest of the Gurren Brigade. Who was our leader now? Who was the main character? The show was directionless and I almost stopped watching.

Then, after that scene, I, just like the rest of the Gurren Brigade, knew: That's my DOOD.

Okay, I just started watching animes in general a month ago and just realized how this post sounds. I'm done for.

Gurren Lagann is the only anime that can actually compare itself with One Piece. Definitely my #2 anime series that I ever watched. Kamina is one of the most inspiring characters of any anime series I've ever seen.

Such a shame that he died so early in the series, but Simon definitely stepped up to the plate by end of it all.
