I haven't been able to watch many of our preseason games so far due to school and work. After hearing all the professional analysis and reading the boards alot it seems as though are best assets have been transition, pick and roll, and the occassional post up with a kick out maybe. But are we developing any kind of true half court offense that we'll be able to rely upon to get easy shots when the 3's arent falling? If we can dominate in transistion, pick and roll, and have a true half court offense I think our chances of contending for the title sky-ROCKET.

i'm not sure what do you mean by true half court offense. i'm assuming the half court you mean the off the ball-pick-n-roll offenses which pop and adelman run.

    those systems require:
    1. good catch and shoot player. (e.g. martin, cassell, hamilton, parker etc.)
    2. good passing bigman. (e.g. brad miller, gasol etc.)
    3. years of chemistry. (spurs' big three have been playing together for a decade. adelman always insists on players he coached before.)

personally, i don't rockets can fulfill any of these... also, morey prefers to shoot the ball straightly behind the arc or get it directly to the basket...

They've already improved their half-court offense just by throwing the ball into the post to Howard.

The defense will double team him, Howard will kick it out and swing it around for an open shot. Or somebody will cut to the basket when Howard has the ball for an easy bucket. Or Howard will simply try to score if he isn't being doubled. Harden can still score off the dribble. The pick and roll will be better than ever. Etc.

PnRs, post ups, and kick outs are half-court offensive sets

They were using Horns a decent amount yesterday with some variations for some easy looks in the half-court if that is something you were wanting to know.

Throw it down to Dwight, hope he gets doubled or fouled. If not...pray he actually executes and carries out a post move..

if howard could shoot and pass the ball like pau, lin/harden could knock down catch and shoot jumper like cassell, the rockets probably would be considered to be the top seed... >_>
