Which was the last NFL team that actually FUBAR'd the entire team because of a cap issue? Given the way the cap works and the large rosters, it is borderline impossible to do anything more than cause a minor inconvenience.

Colts 2 years ago? Raiders this year? And these are just the most extreme examples in recent year.

Coaches can get it too... ask Kubiak. Don't know why McNair feels compelled to reup the offseason before the final season of contracts.... by people who still have things to prove.

I guess we have different definitions of FUBAR. It looks like the Raiders cut a bunch of chumps, busted draft picks, and over the hill players, will take a one year cap hit in a year when the team was going to suck anyway, and will be in a really good cap situation one year later.

To me, FUBAR would involve cutting multiple players that you'd actually want on your team going forward. Personally, I wouldn't care to have any of their cap casualties on my team. I don't see that they were forced to do any damage to their team at all.

And the Colts? When they win the division this year, I'm sure they will be lamenting the lasting damage from two years ago that ruined their team.

Actually it was a good extension, if only because if Schaub came back strong, it locks him up at a decent rate below the league's elite that people were saying he was knocking on the door of being and that in cases like we have now where it is obvious he isn't going to help going forward, it minimizes the cap hit we take when we cut the man.
