Yao Ming had the absolute worst luck when it comes to officiating, it was kind of a Greek tragedy in a way. If he was putting up 27 with the kind of calls he was getting night in and night out, imagine being ref the right way, this monster of a man would be putting up god knows what?

I liked Yao, fantastic finesse player with great range and a soft touch. my only complaint was that I wish he had more killer instinct when he played!

He used to frustrate me, if they were going to call the foul on you for just standing there, freaking earn the foul! and i never got why he was always trying to lay the ball up instead of dunking with force.

Resting in the summer is important, especially for a guy so big. Too much pressure on his feet. Was hoping an Ilgauskas-like come back, oh well.

This guy always respected his coaches and never wished to play for another team or other players than his teammates

If Cuban and the refs didn't completely job him in the playoffs series against the Mavericks, he could have won a championship.

    100 Good

As my kids would say, Yao was 100 good. Translation: about as good as you could expect. You don't have to be an all-time great to be 100 good, in fact Yao is about a B+ to A- Center. Which is plenty good, 100 good in fact. But alas, he had feet of clay and is known for what could have been rather than what was. If I were to give him a real rating between 1-100, I would give him an 83. More than Solid but not good enough to carry a team. Closer to a Rik Smits than an Arvydas Sabonis. But still 100 good in the grand scheme of things.

Love Yao. If he stayed healthy he could have been a top 5-7 player in the league. That one stretch of 15 games he was playing at an MVP level.

He had all the heart and skills to dominate. Just a little soft.

I would characterize it as "injury prone" rather than "soft".

No, screw could-have's. Yao was good.

More than good, he had heart. I respect the hell out of that.

Nearly blew out his lungs trying to go at Shaq when they first met.

Limping out of the locker room during the Laker's series.

Sorry, but Howard will never take Yao's place in my heart.

Yao was pure rocket. The last of the rudy t era.
He never wanted to play for another team.

I'm greatful for Dwight , but he needs to prove himself to rockets fans.
