something fishy is going on witht his Lin & Bev thing. If morey was setting up a trade for Lin he would be the starter due to his (large contract) other teams would need to see him excel as a starter and see that he is worth that contract. By him losing his starting job that is definetly not showing other teams he is worth his contract at this time. Instead they start Bev and mchale says he has (2 starters at PG) in a interview, something could be up.
I wasn't using "marginal" as a descriptive. I was using it as a mathmatical comparison. Ilyasova and Anderson aren't "marginally better" than Casspi....they are significantly better. However, the margin between Asik and the next option at center is even larger than that between Ilyasova/Anderson and Casspi. As an example, if Asik is traded for Ilyasova, certainly our starting lineup will improve in almost every aspect of the game. That said, our 2nd team defense will collapse to the point that the 1st team gains from Ilyasova will likely be completely negated by the extra points we will allow when Howard sits. I agree with Morey on this. Just 15 minutes a game from Asik is worth more than 30 minutes a game from a non-all star PF. I agree that he would make the trade if he can get a B+ PF and a solid back-up center in return, but who is going to do that? Just a guess on my part, but I think Morey wanted Furkan Aldemir to fill this role....but Morey needed the cap space so Furkan was gone.
I'm not sure. That will depend on the performance of Casspi/TJones/DMo. And the next option at center. But I'm even less sure when you factor in mpg impact. We have a glaring hole on our roster... potentially at the expense of an important, but less glaring hole. Why would our second team defense be worse than last year? I'm not saying that's good, I'm just pointing out Howard >> Asik, and someone like Ilyasova >> whoever we use at PF. Theoretically we should be much better in the starting lineup. Also, bench is important, but less so in the playoffs. Another reason the starting lineup fit is more important to me. Ilyasova is a pipe dream, but would be a REALLY good fit next to Howard. Well it doesn't have to be just for Asik. We also have TJones, DMo, Greg Smith, Isiah Cannon and future draft picks.... and it could be multiple deals. I don't have deal to propose necessarily... just point out there are less essential assets to trade, that might still have some value to a team. Maybe someone like a Reggie Evans could be had... that team could certainyl use a shot of youth and offensive.
Beverly, asik, Dmo or jones, and a pick or rights to one fk those European players for Bosh, Aldridge, or love..
I think we should trade Lin, Cannan, and Jones to get Lowry and Novak back from the Raptors. Maybe throw a first round pick from us as well. Lowry/Beverly/Brooks Harden/Garcia/Brewer Parsons/Brewer/Novak DMo/Smith Howard/Asik
Trading for the sake of a trade makes no sense. Rockets have their rebounding stretch 4 in Casspi. Athletic defender in Jones and 7 foot post player in D-Mo. And the Rockets do not have to give up their quality depth at PG or C. That is win-win people.
I'd pursue Lin +Asik + TJones for Bosh. Fills Heat's weaknesses at the 1 and 5, and fills our need at the 4. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jwdw4q6
If I was the Heat, I wouldn't be ready to make such a major change so soon. I'm also not sure that, within their system, Lin is a huge upgrade over Chalmers. Chalmers' consistent 3-pt shot really helps that offense. Even though he makes dumb plays more than most people would like, he is still underrated as a playmaker.
Gotta get Love Milwaukee gets Lin + Dmo Minny gets Ilyasova and Tjones Houston gets Love Send out as many picks as it takes Morey!!!!
Nooo..... they wouldn't..... http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lqtqwl9 Or would they...... http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mhh7z3g ........................................................................................ Is it possible that Melo uses the Lakers or the Mavs as 2014 Free agency leverage to force a trade in February to the Rockets????..... Would Dolan allow himself to get fleeced once again by Morey??? Would Dolan call Melo's bluff and allow him to risk leaving for nothing in the Summer??? .............................................................................................. For some reason the trade machine isnt working- First trade is NYK Out- Melo NYK In- Eric Gordon, Jeremy Lin, multiple picks from Hou Hou In- Melo Hou out- Lin, Asik, Muliple picks Pelles Out- Gordon Pelles In- Asik 2nd trade is - NYK Out- Melo NYK In- DeRozen, Jeremy Lin, multiple picks from Hou Hou In- Melo Hou out- Lin, Asik, Muliple picks Toronto Out- DeRozen Toronto In- Asik Derozen/Gordon, Lin, and picks for a player that is leaving in free agency isn't an aweful deal. They will still be a fairly decent playoff team in the East.
NYK need their one marquee player. And I think he and LaLa are in love with the twinkle-twinkle of NY and LA.
