Sorry, no it's not. The person saying Lin help make a team mate better it's probably because of his passing and playmaking. It's not a knock on the players themselves. Compare Lin playing with Chandler and Novak vs them playing with Felton and you see a lot of difference in their output. Morey even tweeted something like Lin's passing was important to us scoring well. Novak said playing with Lin made playing so much easier.

A player can be a very good player, but they can be more successful if they play with right person or system.

    Poll question

A better formulation might be : "Given their current abilities, which player will contribute most to the success of the Rockets this season?"

What is the "useful" way to look at the poll?

Asik is a TOP 5 center
do u think Parsons is top 5 sf?
or Lin/beverly is top 5 pg?

The answer is Asik and it is not even close.

The results of this poll along with his ESPN player rankings makes me think it may be time to seriously entertain the idea of trading Parsons.

I don't think it will actually happen. With a core in place, there is a premium now on intangibles such as 'continuity' and 'chemistry' and 'fit'. So I think Parsons stays.

But if we didn't already have Harden and Howard, you can bet that Morey would be flipping Parsons seeing how overrated he has become.

I think the correct question is, what is a poll? A poll is to record the opinion or vote of. In this case, the posters of this forum. This is the reason why poll is also called opinion poll. It is not about right or wrong; or whether the voters are biased or not, it is all about individual opinion.

What an ingenious idea! Get us a legit PF who is on a rookie contract and still retain Asik. Casspi and Garcia will do just fine.

You're the one who said we made the poll "useless." I wasn't thinking in terms of "useless" or "useful." So now you want to discuss what is a poll. . . .

I agree with you that a poll is a quantitative record of opinion. Now, once that record is made, can we not have any thoughts about it? If a poll says that 57% of Americans believe in the Devil http://today.yougov.com/news/2013/09/17/poll-results-exorcism/, we can only say "Oh"? Not supposed to have any opinion on that result?

In short, I don't see why you want to prohibit the expression of opinions about a poll result. It seems that the only post you would allow in this thread is "Oh, look at the results."

Lin when he plays with freedom. Has the potential to make the most impact on any given game. In other words, more star potential than the others. Of course, consistency is another issue.

just a poll and interesting results.

    parsons creating separation.

Asik is our 3rd best 3rd?

The dropoff from 1 and 2 to #3 is pretty big.

Sounds like we do need to take a strong look at getting a number 3 or we need to accept a #3 by committee

this poll amply illustrates why most opinions should be ignored. thankfully DaEel Moray is at the helm.

The poll illustrates that we have no clear cut # 3.

That our #3 is interchangeable in many ways with our #5. That could be good or bad.

At first I was like good, but now Im like maybe its bad.

I think we could get something strong for parsons lin asik and bev + fillers.

Try not to lose all 4 but that 4 parsons lin asik and bev is something real nice for a team to get.

When you trade you have to lose something. 1 or 2 if not all 4 of the list of parsons lin asik and bev are goners. You have to live with that. We are going to give the parsons lin asik and bev a short leash either way.

On record, I did not say poll are useless and I did not prohibit the expression of opinions about a poll result and I have no right to do so. To express an opinion is ok but how some of you have dismissed the poll result. Anyway, you don't have to agree with me.

I don't watch the Knicks, but the Knicks offense last year was better than the Rockets. So umm... I guess maybe not? Again, what you're saying does nothing to support the idea that Lin is filled with "intangibles." If anything, an offense led by Fat Felton being #3 in the NBA should point to Felton being a big intangibles guy.

But here's a tangible that Lin will never make up. The Rockets were a top-10 defense with Asik last year. They were a bottom-5 defense without him. They were top-5 defense with Asik in half court.

Asik may not look as cool as Lin on the court, but he's a hell of a lot better and it's not even close.

Gotta love how y'all bash players from your own favorite team. :)
Instead of rooting for your own players and discuss how they can become better and what they bring to the table, y'all just look for the negative points of a certain player and bash him as much as y'all can just to win an argument.
Rockets fans are the greatest fans ever!

Parsons is a legit all star caliber guy right now. No one else in the poll is close to that. I mean, how many 3s are better than parsons in the entire nba? 5 or so?
