    top 5 disappointments

    1) LA Clippers - picked by many analysts to make a playoff run. Andre Miller trade might not be as one-sided as originally thought, though Darius Miles isn't lighting it up in Cleveland, either. Teammates even hinted that they prefer it when Jaric is running the point. Terrible defense all around.

    2) Houston Rockets - no explanation needed

    3) Washington Wizards - Kwame has developed less than Eddie Griffin, if that's possible. Stackhouse and Jordan are the only two players that can score. Looked like a solid 5-6 seed in a weak Eastern conference, but now is struggling to make the playoffs.

    4) Seattle Sonics - Hard to believe this team was 8-2 at one point. Finally gave in when they traded Payton.

    5) Denver Nuggets - 27 victories? tsk tsk tsk...you'll never win the Lebron-a-thon with that kind of win total!

    top five suprises

    1) Phoenix - looked to be on their way down, but have played very well down the stretch. Only big losing skid came when Penny was out.

    2) Portland - another team predicted to crumble, but have gotten stronger as the season progresses

    3) Lakers - Even the most die hard Laker fans were giving up after thier horrible start. Most deadly first round opponent. We might see a couple of tanked games to avoid facing the Lakers in the playoffs.

    4) Detroit - nobody thought they could keep winning the way they are, but they keep chugging along. Best defense in the NBA

5)Minnesota - darkhorse in the Western conference. Garnett is the only person close to Duncan in MVP voting

top 5 disappointing teams for me:

    1. Houston: hmmm.

    2. Atlanta: I thought they would do a lot more with what they have on their roster this year.

    3. Utah: they played good, that annoys me.

    4. Clippers: didn't think they'd fall apart so early.

    5. Washington: after they got Stack, I thought they'd be a lock for the playoffs. But everyone outside of MJ and stack are just sucking ass. No improvement from them since last year.

    Surprises:

    1. Phoenix: Marbury playing to his potential, even while starting out the season injured. Amare coming out strong. Didn't think those 2 factors would have been enough to lead them to a strong playoff chase.

    2. Jay Williams: didn't think he would be the immediate stud the media dubbed him as, but i did think he would have more big games than he did.

    3. Jerry West making a really ****ty trade.

    4. NY becomming competitive, even in the EC.

    5. that big run that Portland had.

oh, and Denver has 17 wins, not 27. :)

Phoenix shouldn't be a surprise, they have about the same talent level as the Rockets. If one's a disappointment, the other is too.

The Lakers are the biggest disappointment by far. It's really not close. Golden State is really the only surprise in the West.

In the East, even though it's not a real conference, you have to go with Boston, Milwaukee, New York, and Toronto as disappointments, and Indiana as a surprise.

I don't think any objective person can pick the Rockets as a disappointment this year. Certainly no one outside of Houston would think that.

They're the Rockets that were picked by prognosticators to be a bubble playoff team, and are trying to make the playoffs right now.

They're also the Rockets that were 23-15 and coming off the biggest victory of the season against the Lakers. If they had played even MEDIOCRE basketball since then, playoff tickets would probably be printed already...Look up "underachieving" in the dictionary and you'll see a Rockets logo...

Actually Freak, Phoenix is a surprise to me because of the reasons I listed. Amare came out of nowhere, and I thought Marbury would struggle with his ankle injury, maybe even miss significant time because of it. Their centers suck, but their bench is pretty decent. If it wasn't for Amare, they would have no one creating shots in the post.

I wouldn't say the Lakers are a dissappointment, considering they don't give a **** about the regular season and Shaq was not himself for most of it.

GS didn't surprise me cuz they are loaded with talent, tho a lot of people might not notice.

And Boston isn't really a disappointment either imo, cuz the management surrounded Walker and Pierce with absolute crap.

The rox are a dissappointment for me, but not necessarily because of the possiblity of not making the playoffs, but because of their style of play(aside, I don't care what the prognosticators say, I think most of them are full of ****). Offense, defense, clock management, the break just hasn't progressed where I think it should be at this point in the season, let alone after having SF and Mobes for a few years. Yea, it is more of the same, but that's precisely the point. It just seems like they keep bumping their heads into the wall over and over. Not that there aren't any bright spots, but the negatives way outweigh the positives this year.

They have a LOT of work to do in the offseason.

Again, that's just my 2 cents, and I understand your take, but I would like to think I'm a lil level headed. :)

Nugz shouldn't be in the dissapointment list. Yeah, they don't have the worst record so they could pick up Lebron, but when was the last time the team with the worst record actually picked the 1st slot? We weren't even in the top 5 worst records for Ming if memory serves.

Besides, if the Rockets had the same attitude that the Nugz have, the Rockets would be a 4 or 5 seed right now.

Ugh remember preseason? You guys were talking finals or winning the west and that the Suns would be one of the worst teams in the league and all that BS.
    Rockets can watch TV early.

I agree with CK. Saying GS is surprising is like saying the Rockets would have been surprising as a sub-500 team last year.

GS sucked last year, and now they are where their talent should have had them all along. So, the are no longer underachieving, but they certainly aren't overachieving like Detroit. Hell, I'd but San Antonio in the surprise category, too. Dallas, too...way before considering any sub-500 teams with loads of talent (like Clippers) to be a surprise.

personally, I'm surprised that GS sucked so bad last year.

I don't see how anyone can possibly say GS isn't a surprise team. How many of you were seeing Arenas as the impact player he's been and showing this much progres? How many of you figured Murphy over the summer would totally rework his body and develop his game? Christ these are two candidates for MIP and you foresaw that and Arenas is probably their best player.

By reading the CC board before the season and the predictions made for the Rockets, the development expected of some players, I'd say most would have to put the Rockets in the top five disappointments. But top spot to me goes to the Clips. I really thought Miller would solidify that team and bring out the talen. Wrong.
