I was amazed last year that the small amount of people who knew the US made it to the round of 8 in the World Cup. They really should have beaten or tied Germany, but a goal was not counted, even though the ball had crossed the line, and even if it hadn't, the US should have gotten a penalty shot on the handball, because the defender stuck out his arm to stop the ball.
I agree with the person who mentioned Major League Baseball. Talk about a useless sport that's on its way out. People should have better things to do with their spring and summer then sit around watching baseball games anyways. Soccer requires supremely conditioned athletes with some extreme agility. Baseball is the only sport I've seen where the majority of the players on the field are basically inactive for 65-75% of the plays, which is a figure I'm just throwing out there based on hitting averages. Baseball sucks and the only thing it's ever brought to america is a well designed tool(baseball bat) for administering beatings and committing vandalism.
are you saying you were amazed how few americans knew we were doing good? because that seemed to be quite a big deal in america, and really really huge considering it was soccer. bars were staying open way into the morning so people could see the matches, people were staying up at home to watch the matches. seemed to me that plenty of people knew the usa was doing good at the world cup.
Does anyone else hate that commercial where (ugly) WNBA players wear dresses and say things like, "I am glamorous.... so what?"
See my 2nd and third post in THIS THREAD to see 9 reasons other than the game is pathetic and unwatchable that the WNBA should go away! BTW at 17 to 51 in favor of the WNBA, my prediction has come true, it is now a 3 to 1 ratio! ! !
Prolly because the NHL has most of it's games on ESPN or ESPN2 or mid-day games on Saturday on ABC. While the WNBA (only because of the NBA) is on NBC. If the WNBA stood on it's own I dunno what channel it would be on, maybe the women's cable station?
it would be terrible to do away with MLS. this country definitely needs it for, at the very least, player development for the national team. i think the league needs to expand and cant wait for houston to get its team.
