I really wanted a PS4 at first, but then I thought about all the hype of "Power of the Playstation" over the Xbox 360. However when I had both systems, the Xbox 360 was way more fun (playing with my friends). I am getting the XBONE this time around because I feel like it's a proven and safe bet. PS4 may be better in the end, but I'll probably get both systems eventually anyway.
A bit surprised at the 70-30 breakdown so far. Small sample size, but I thought things were leveling off for the XBone after that disaster of an E3.
Actually it's pretty close to what the internet seems to be like. I guess we'll see when first sales numbers come through. I'm surprised as well I figured it would at least be 60-40. We'll seeee.
I think our polls were around 50/50 in most PS3/360 threads (think it skewed more PS3 over time). Not particularly accurate for US sales, though maybe we can consider this an international poll. XBO has suffered from the initial backlash. Even though they've changed pretty much all the "bad" stuff, and the box is actually much more attractive now, I think it might take a bit of time to gain back all that was lost initially (at least with online polls). It is still "cool" to hate on the XBO right now, regardless of whether that is actually warranted. Probably still pretty early to make any firm conclusions. Still a lot we don't know about the machines and how their experiences will compare/differ. edit: First sales numbers might not be that great given there might be supply constraints.
Same answer, I am getting both eventually. So I put both, though I will be getting a PS4 first. Too bad, I actually think it would've been more interesting to see a multiple-choice poll with these options: Buying PS4 near launch Buying Xbox One near launch Buying PS4 later Buying Xbox One later Would've been interesting... though I don't quite care enough to create yet another poll.
I'll keep that in mind if I remember to do another next month right before launch (it's like an election!). As a side, how about that 2K14 PS4 trailer, eh? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GJlptY6G4SQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'll end up with both at some point but certainly not at launch, though I preordered both. I thought for sure I'd keep the ps4 but I'm intrigued by the xbox's interface and the ability to plug in the satellite box directly to the machine and fast swap or dual screen between tv and the game. That may not sound like a huge deal but I can see multiple situations I'd take advantage of that for. Is the PS4 doing this as well? Nothing is really exciting me as far as launch games for either console. $100 cheaper is also huge for Ps4.
Where's the WiiU? I was a sucker and purchased one. Really regret it now. Not excited for any launch games either, but 2k14 is legit. Definitely going to get that to hold me over for a few months.
You shouldn't. I have one and love it. Games have been slow, but they began ramping up a couple months ago. I also think Wii U will have some sales during Christmas (price point + big time mario game). Sales have already jumped significantly due to Wind Waker HD -- Super Mario World 3D looks incredible and I think will help quite a bit especially around Christmas.
No, doesn't seem like it. There might be some accessory that does it (PS3 has had a few, though none were released in NA IIRC), but that's about it. Certainly not anything that would likely receive a lot of support from Sony. If Sony does anything in this area, it would be in helping you get rid of your satellite box (via IPTV services). But not sure if I'd put much faith in Sony being able to deliver on that promise/vision.
I went to the Sony store in the Galleria and got to play for about half an hour. I really like the feel of the controller; I was skeptical (I didn't like the DS3 at all), but I really like the shape and the triggers are a huge improvement from where they were. The sticks felt decent, but I needed a shooter to test with. Unfortunately it seemed like the trackpad was disabled, the click was satisfying at least haha. I played Knack, Fifa, and a few indie games. Fifa was very pretty, I don't play soccer games so I was pretty awful and wouldn't be able to judge the gameplay. Knack was surprisingly fun, and adorable as far as games go. How it holds up (the controls were pretty simple) over the course of a game remains to be seen but I'll be keeping an eye on it. (I wasn't interested previously) I still want to try out the Xbox One controller before I make my final decision, but for now my pre-order for a PS4 stands.
Yeah I think the xbox feature may ultimately be worth it for me. The only game I intend on getting is 2k14 which is on both. If the Ps4 is actually more powerful, by the time it's evident on any games I'll pick that up as well.
If playstation would just offer an x-box style controller, then playstation would dominate the market.
I don't know if that is necessary anymore. Speaking as someone who strongly disliked the PS3 controller and loved the Xbox controllers, I would have to say I really like the new controller. The stick layout is the same, but they've been spread further apart and the controller itself feels bigger and has a bit more weight to it. It's quite nice.
