Orlando Sentinel: Dwight Howard's comparison of current teammates to 08/09 Magic teammates

    It sounds like Howard just made comparisons just by position played, and nothing much else.

    For that Orlando team, Turkoglu was the main guy in the pick and roll with a pretty good outside shot.

    In terms of roles played, Harden is like a hybrid of Turkoglu and Jameer Nelson. Not a Courtney Lee.

    Chandler Parsons is similar to Rashard Lewis more than Hedo.

    The Lin-Johnson comparison is the strangest. IIRC Anthony Johnson was a defensive PG with little offensive skill or playmaking ability. Which is why Orlando traded for Alston when Jameer Nelson went down with an injury.

    I'd say Lin is closer to Alston and Beverley is closer to Johnson, if you really wanted to force a comparison.

    Calm down y'all are taking a quote that was most likely taken out of context waaaaay to serious. Anybody can see this team is better than that one or he wouldn't have chosen to come here geeeeesh!!!

    i don't think Courtney Lee's own mother ever said a nicer thing about him. Comparing him to Harden is super generous ;)

    He was asked to comment on the similarity between his team and his old Orlando teams by the local reporters, and he humored them. Let's not read too much into it.

    Yeah, I think the only thing he was trying to do was to say that this team could go to the finals in a similar fashion. He's probably still friends with alot of the guys on that team so he's not going to bash them publicly.

    The butthurt in this thread is amazing.

    Youd swear that this Rocket team won the finals last year and Howard is just along for the ride this season.

    I think some people here forget the Rockets have only won one playoff series in damn near 17 years.

    Seems like Dwight just listed off the players on his Magic team and their positions and said it's so strange how this team also plays point guards, shooting guards, small and power forwards.

    Technically, Alston was the back up because Nelson got injured, Johnson I think was 3rd string.
