If Camby is gone for the season, then what about Jason Collins?

TBH it boils down to two factors:

1. Camby is a better player than Collins even on his worst day.
2. Some of the players don't really don't want a gay guy in the locker room. This is the truth behind closed doors.

Combine those 2 factors and you're not gonna have many takers on Collins. He may never play again. That is sad, but it's reality.

 

Dont need the distraction. Media would be all over us

 

Camby at least has a rep as a skilled veteran who's defied father time to stay in the league.

Collins is a guy of questionable talent who has only ever held an NBA job to throw fouls at guys like Shaq. What's he there for? To tell your bench the secret to staying in the league 15+ years is being 7' 260lbs? Are your rookies taking this dude seriously when he warns them about golddiggers, baby mamas, or late night clubbing?

 

No......he just isn't that good at basketball.

 

Jason Collin is pretty old as well too.

 

Collins is not a similar player - your stretching.

We never needed Camby.

 

Jason Collins was a scrub in his prime and that was nearly 10 years ago. The only reason he is still relevant is that he came out of the closet when most people would rather not have known anything at all. I appreciate the fact that the Rockets don't discriminate against people that swing the other way but I fully expect them as a serious sports organisation to discriminate against players that have sucked for much of the last decade.
