Nah, your way off base. Thye have already sold nearly 28,000 tickets for that US/MEXICO game when I last heard on 610 AM. Seattle only had 17,000 show up for the US/Venezula match a couple weeks back. This city has way too big of a Hispanic population with an urge for soccer for this team to go belly up. Factor in the other diversities who crave soccer in this city and the fact that this team will be playing indoors at Reliant to avoid the summer heat and you have the makings for a very successful franchise. The attendance sux at Rox games because the Rox suck. I really want Hockey more than Soccer in Houston. But soccer will succed big time in Houston. The only question is will the league survive?
We dont have the team yet, but I have heard "Apollos" float around this city so many times, I wouldnt be suprised if that becomes the name. I would like that too. It kinda' reminds me of Pele's team, the "New York Cosmos" of the 70's. That team was magical every time they took the field. Hopefully the "Apollos" will be the same way.
