Er, you've got it in reverse. His father WAS a communist fighting for Castro. He bribed Batistas officials to get out of Cuba. If he wasn't connected to Castro then he wouldn't have had to bribe his way out. Then he suddenly gets rich, moves to river oaks, and his Harvard/Princeton grad son becomes a senator. Dude, that IS a better plan than the Manchurian candidate.

I was playing off the guy I quoted, who I assumed was taking a stab at how uniformed Texas voters are. I took it to the next level by insinuating texans, at least the majority, would vote for anyone who was vocally opposing Obama, blindly as well.

Cruz comes off like a Rush dittohead. What a cruel hearted little ideologue he is.

I had a client who killed himself a couple of days ago due to the extreme pain and depression he felt after losing his job being deprived of a hip replacement in the healthcare system Cruz is fighting to sustain.

Doesn't mean shi* to a wingnut like Cruz.

Fortunately neo-confederate older white guys like him, despite cozying up to the Kochs and other selfish billionaires, are not going to be able to suppress enough votes to keep winning too much longer in most states including Texas. So much suffering in the mean time.

"Cruz 'Pushed House Republicans Into Traffic And Wandered Away"

    -- Grover Norquist

"He would lead this grass-roots movement that would get Democrats to change their mind. So the House passed it, it went to the Senate, and Ted Cruz said, oh, we don’t have the votes over here. And I can’t find the e-mails or ads targeting Democrats to support it. Cruz said he would deliver the votes and he didn’t deliver any Democratic votes. He pushed House Republicans into traffic and wandered away."

First test for Cruz's appeal - he failed, with even the crazy trying to avoid association with him.

    Cuccinelli shuns Cruz limelight

    RICHMOND, Va.— That was awkward.

In the clearest sign yet of the potent effect of the government shutdown on the Virginia governor’s race, Republican Ken Cuccinelli avoided being photographed with Ted Cruz at a gala they headlined here Saturday night—even leaving before the Texas senator rose to speak.

Backstage, a source said, Cuccinelli urged Cruz to work with Democrats to end the federal shutdown. But he did not make that point, or even acknowledge Cruz, in short public comments to some 1,100 social conservatives.

Cruz has become the face of GOP intransigence, and the conservative attorney general’s effort to distance himself from congressional Republicans reflects how damaging Cuccinelli realizes a prolonged shutdown may be for his campaign.

I guess Carville would want to reevaluate Cruz;)

I think Cruz would be the front runner for president on the Tea Party ticket.
Too bad there is no Tea Party. His bud Palin could be vice-presidential candidate or they could reverse the offices.

Veterans Slam Tea Party Politicians For Hijacking Protest Against War Memorial Closures

Apparently, the original organizers of the veterans’ march are displeased with the Tea Party’s co-opting of their protest. On the Million Vet March homepage, the organizers suggest a local organizer invited Tea Party and birther groups against the wishes of the veterans:

The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner.

The organizers say they are simply calling for war memorials to stay open at all times and disowned the “disheartening acts of a few powerful Washington elite and political extremists jumping on the opportunity to make money.” On their Facebook page, they blamed “certain groups that have piggy-backed off our grassroots efforts” for obscuring their message. “We made the mistake of trying to partner with some Washington insiders that thwarted many of our genuine concerns for keeping this apolitical and grassroots. While we support many of those groups common causes for Veterans, we do not support the manner in which they go about it. We chose instead to not incite or create panic.”

True Texans should make it their priority to make Mr. Cruz a one term senator.
