Who are supposed to be in this sign and trade deal involving Gilbert?

I don't see this as a realistic possibility. GSW is over the cap, meaning they can only sign Areanas to the mid-level exception (b/t $4.5-5.5 million). What current Rocket would they want to trade for in that salary range, with the understanding they are already solidified with Richardson and Jamison.

Like I said, they've already got Richardson at the two guard, with Bobby Sura backing him up. No need for Mobley.

Get rid of Cato, Rice, Norris, Collier, Hawkins, and Morris. That's who I'd like to see gone. The majority of those player's salaries are high, so that'd free up some space to get some quality players for possibly less. But I also firmly believe that all this team needs is a season or two to really gel, and making any big trades to hinder the fluidity of this team might hurt us to play like a team sooner. So either make some big trades and try and gel during the next years season like we did this season, or keep the rosters the same and bank on this team gelling better come next season.

Granted, hindisight is always 20/20... but IMO, these were pivotal moments this season.

    Mistakes
    1. Trading KT away instead of EG
    2. Picking up Posey and giving him a starting role
    3. Starting Rice in the beginning of the year but Posey later
    4. Putting up with lower productivity from many bench players
    5. Not giving starters more minutes as the season wound down

    :p

And so my votes go to:

Posey (let his contract expire), EG, and essentially all our bench players except for Moochie b/c I like his style.

The Rockets may not be able to re-sign James Posey. It wouldn't be a matter of if they wanted to from a "Is he a good, desirable player that can help this team" standpoint, but whether they could fiscally do it, given their cap situation.

There's only a 1% chance that Yao Ming ISN'T in Houston next year, just like there's only a 1% chance that SAC will mistakenly launch a warhead that wipes out Houston.

Ok, here is what I would love to see happen. Before I start, I just want to say that this is indeed a long shot pip dream but it could happen because PARTS of it have already been rumored to happen. Here goes.

First, we watch Jason Kidd bolt Jersey for SA via free agency. (Rumored to happen) New Jersey isnt exactly pumped for recieveing Parker in return so they sign Gary Payton away from the Bucks. (Rumored to happen) If Parker isnt involved in a sign and trade deal fro Kidd and is still in SA, we swing a deal with SA sending Mobley to SA for Parker and a player to be named later. Parker's contract is much less than Mobley's so it would probably work cap wise. Now I know what your saying, But what about Ginobilli. Well, I will tell the truth and say I dont have a logical answer for that except to say that Mobley would provide solid depth at the position.

If Parker goes North in the Kidd sign and trade and the Nets sign Payton, we swing a deal with Jersey sending Mobley to Jersey for Parker. It is no secret that the Nets would like to upgrade the shooting guard position and Mobley would do just that for them. Again the deal would probably work cap wise for the Rockets because Parker has a smaller contract than Mobley. However, I dont know Jersey's current cap situation but I assume its good being that they have enough money to re-sign Kidd.

The reason why I want Parker is because he knows how to run a offense and keep the big men involved in it. He has done a good job of that in SA with Duncan and "Tha' Mermaid." With him manning the ship at point and Franchise at shooting guard, we coulc have one of the best backcourts in history and this team can finally start winning some games.

But once again this is a long, drawn out pipe dream. But who knows, this is the NBA and it could happen!

IN this order I would be looking to up grade:-
COACHES :- If Rudy comes back he needs professional Basketball Coaches as Assistant Coaches not back room tape boys!!. If Rudy is not coming back we need a clean sweep. Then we need to get a Coach that has diciplin and knows how to coach towards success and highly qualified Assistants.
Moochie NORRIS,overpaid , we need a quality back up that knows how to play Team Basketball!
    HAWKINS not good enough!
RICE too old, we need a crack 3pt.shooter
MOBLEY,a solid player, but if we are going to build arround Yao Ming then he just wont work in our team.( I hate to see him go)
GRIFFIN does he deserve another season?
FRANCIS can he make the transition to a pass first Point Guard or does he play the 2 Guard even though he cant play defence?
Mo TAYLOR has he now fully recovered and can he give us 15pts/game next season?
POSEY he is very athletic and adds a much need dimension to our team- will he play under control and will he pass the ball? Can we afford him? Does he want to stay?
CATO - he blossomed this season and is a great back up Center- Would he re negotiate his contract? He is about 30% overpaid
YAO MING - Are we going to build arround him ? If so his potential with *coaching says keep him.(*Moses Malone)
NACHBAR< MADDOX and MORRIS deserve a chance to play.

This poll (as of 1:30 pm Sat) reflects the discussion I've seen the past couple months with 1 exception. We know most of us want the Cat to go and then Moochie. The exception is Yao tying for 2nd. R u sure? He most probably won't go but imagine the team without him, what will we have?
