Don't see how anyone could hate him as a commentator

Is this true? I only remember Walton hating on the Rockets in the mid-90s... or is that the hazy memory of a child with unbridled hormerism?

Anyway, I'm with the "WTF" crowd on this thread. I thought Bill Walton was universally reviled.

Dude... Walton is GREAT! The years he did those horrible horrible Clipper teams was as epic as it gets for a commentator. Remember Keith Closs? LOL Walton is comedy gold.

 

God I didn't realize Walton had so many haters, everybody I've talked to loves the guy, myself included.

Anybody can call the game, but he actually entertains. He clearly loves good basketball, unlike other guys who appear to be doing a job.

All the telestarations in the world can't match one good "nice passing" uttered by Walton.

I used to hate Walton for his hyperbole while growing up. I remember some comments against the rockets that were blown out of proportion, like they sucked or couldn't repeat.

I changed my opinion when someone toys me he was being sarcastic rather than a blabbering oaf

Always respected his personality though. Needs a partner that will play along though

I don't want someone "entertaining" me with masturbatory over-the-top comments when D-Wade hits a 3 pointer. I want someone who can provide insight into the X's and O's, something Collins is excellent at and Walton doesn't know a damn thing about.

 

Walton can make some funny comments that others can not even learn them. He sounds stupid during the talks, but he is just trying to be funny, and he really knows the basketball too. The guy like Collins will make you to go to bed soon with the same level of the voice. I do not think he can ever say any funny word which JVG or Walton have said in last a few years.
