I will have to disagree. The only way this game will answer that question is if we give the Rams a beat down. A win by over two touchdowns. Why will that not happen? Kubiak. We go up by at least 10 points, Kubiak likes to be conservative and just start running the ball. I have no problem with this except for the fact our running game alone usually can't give us points on the board. Tate likes to fumble when we have leads. And Matt Schaub gets out of rhythm quickly. Schaub is a rhythm quarterback, IMO. He led those fourth quarter come backs in the beginning of the season in rhythm, and right now he is way out of sync. We can't just run the ball the first two downs to waste time, and expect Matt Schaub to convert on 3rd down. I am legitimately sad about this whole situation. I remember back in 2009 I was calling for the firing of Kubiak, and honestly, he has been in this organization way too long.
Even if the Texans destroy the Rams it doesn't answer the question many had before the season on how Schaub/Kubiak reacts to big name teams in "big" games. I do agree with you on Kubiak, I was all for him but the ending of last season and how things are going now makes me think it is time for a change. The only real scary thing would be if we have to give up the scheme that Foster has succeeded in along with potentially losing Wade Phillip and the defensive staff. Kubiak I like but for the talent this team has to potentially not even make the playoffs after all the years to customize it to his own liking, I can't believe even McNair is that kind not to hold him responsible.
Not going to happen. If he even active? Keenum will be a clip board carrier. Would be a nice dream though lol. How schaub had a great game... Gaining some confidence and carrying it on the rest of the season
Texans win ... Schaub plays decently... still gets hooked next game because playing decent against the Rams means you stink (Dream scenario)
I've always been a big Kubiak supporter (mostly because I grew up in school with some of his family), but I think he may have overstayed his welcome here. If he can't produce with this talent, he's got to go. With that being said, I think Kubiak has to change his style and call plays balls to the wall-style. He's gotta get a lead, and not take his foot off the throttle until we're up by 30. That's been the biggest issue with him as a coach. I stand by what I say. I think this team just has to get to the playoffs (obviously playing better than they are now), and they'll have a shot. Schaub has played at a level good enough for us to win it all before. Unfortunately, it was a year (and a half, maybe) ago.
Rams are 28th in Rushing yds allowed. Even if they stop the pass, they're not really that good against the run. Texans can get 10-13 alone if they rush the ball with Tate/Foster.
Schaub throws another pick 6 on his 1st (or 2nd) pass and gets pulled. Yates comes in and does much better and the Texans win 31-10.
Schaub goes for 250+, 3 tds, with no turnovers. AJ gets his first td of the season. Foster goes for 150. Texans 38 Rams 10 All is right with the world once again.
I've been hoping Schaub will "get it right" for 3-4 years now. Even at the end of last season after getting blown out by the Patriots, what did Kubiak and Schaub say? They said Schaub will try to improve. At some point, after Schaub has proven his detractors correct time and time again, there's no more hope. If the upside with Schaub this season is 9-7 and barely missing the playoffs, or even barely squeezing into the playoffs and getting pounded, I will prefer we rebuild. Because next year Schaub isn't getting younger or better.
