I've been a my.yahoo user for probably close to 18 years. I think it's been my home page and main email since 1995. I've played fantasy sports almost exclusively through Yahoo since 1998. It was always the cleanest and easiest to use with fewer crashes on game day than the other sites. There seems to be an unbelievable amount of complaints about the forced changes they've made.

Now, everything about Yahoo is complete ****e. They've completely changed the look, feel, and usefulness. my.yahoo is worthless. They've actually managed to remove many of the useful apps that made it the reason why it was my home page. Yahoo Mail is as slow as ever. The fantasy changes are just awful. The site crashes often. The dark look (though you can now change it to light) is horrible. Their mobile app is probably the worst out there. My cousin works for the NFL and has spent a lot of time working on their fantasy site and app. He's asked me from time to time for input. He said recently that they're just laughing over there because they know people are going to leave by the millions. I'll be one of them.

What sites do you guys use as a home page, assuming you like to open up the web to news, sports, etc? igoogle is shutting down. I'm not sure what others sites there are that would be as useful as my.yahoo used to be.

I primarily use Yahoo's default home page.

I agree with you about Yahoo. 90% of improvements they've done have been terrible.

Kind of a side rant but since Marissa Mayer's arrival Yahoo has been going down the crapper. I work for a very large tech company and y! traditionally buys from us...since she's come over yahoo CAPEX has been slowed, forecasted purchases have been delayed and she starts telling people to come into the office instead of telecommuting.

My company lets us work from home whenever, and her "change of pace" at y! has made our CEO question whether or not we need to come into the office more. Way to screw things up lady!

Oh yeah...then I saw this article from two days ago:

    http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-10-09/yahoo-s-marissa-mayer-it-s-totally-okay-to-fail

And I concur- fantasy football app sucks.

I like their new look for e-mail, and I prefer their fantasy basketball to ESPN.

However, I definitely don't like the way sports.yahoo.com looks now.

Still love their email layout. I've had my Yahoo email for over a decade and have no complaints. Tried Gmail, but I just like Yahoo better.

Their FF app is a joke. Gets worse every year. Only think I use the phone app for is to track points during the games. Can you even do any transactions on that thing?

If Yahoo is driving you away from their platform they're doing you a favor. I've heard nothing but good things about that CEO. Yahoo is bigger than that interface you're referencing, their hands are in all kinds of pots.

You can try to pick up players, but it fails to complete the transaction most of the time.

I've had Yahoo! email since 1996. I used to have my.yahoo.com as my main page for about 10 years and then it just was too much. I understand your pain, but I'll continue to use Yahoo! email alone, not the my.yahoo page at all. I had all my sports news on there, but now I don't remember what I'm missing. I used to use it as my main page for all that stuff together.

I also played Fantasy Football since the 90s, when they were only doing TEXT. Now it fails a lot... I thought I had changed someone whom later I found had 20+ points on the bench, because the app said "Switched players" but then I realized it didn't. I should have double checked. :(

I'll give it another try and come back to report what is up.

So, they're doing good things...and they're doing me a favor by driving me (and thousands of others) away? I'm not getting your point.

I've never been a Yahoo user, other than when creating a "throw away" email. But the Fantasy Football leauge I play in every year switched from CBS to Yahoo this season, and I HATE it. Not at all intuitive, and the only wasy to describe the app is to say that it sucks.

Really? I've never had it fail and I've been using it the past 3 years I believe. Android.

Sure you're not trying to pick up a player off waivers and getting beaten to the punch by GMs with a higher waiver priority than you?

Yes. I get a popup that says "Transaction failed"...or something along those lines. I then go on my laptop later and do the same transaction online with no problems.

I thought it was just my computer that was having problems with their sports page. There are constant freezing issues and they have the blurred stadiums in the background that play tricks on your eyes (or mine at least). The most frustrating part was when they posted a note on the fantasy pages that they were open to suggestions but absolutely wouldn't consider going back to the old format.

This is what happens when you have a premier product and mess with it just for the sake of change. They could cut their losses and go back to the old format, but they won't.

Marissa Mayer is a one woman wrecking crew. She spent a billion dollars on tumblr and will soon wreck that platform with ads (tumblr was largely for adult content anyway and Yahoo! will get rid of much of that).

The new sports page layout is borderline unreadable.

Yahoo! remained popular because it's a familiar interface. If they start changing things, that advantage goes away.

I still use yahoo finance exclusively. I like yahoo sports, also, although all that color on their new format is painful. I liked them because they used to be simple from a layout point of view.

Yep. I guess I might as well make the BBS my home page since it's always my first stop anyway.
