Okay guys, I'm a big James Bond aficionado and I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one on CF who likes to see 007 "living the vida loca". I didn't include Barry Nelson (Casino Royal-TV Series 1954) or David Niven (Casino Royal-Movie 1967) because they are not part of the official James Bond movie series. (EON Production films) My personal favorite is Sir Sean Connery followed by Daniel Craig as a close second. I don't care much for Roger Moore, I think he was way too old to play the part and his movies were more slapstick-action than spy thriller-action!The other three Lazenby/Dalton/Brosnan had their moments but I consider them bench warmers. Feel free to participate in the poll and give your opinion.... ....... ....... .......
Always loved Connery, Goldeneye is one of if not my favorite (partially due to the game, partially due to it being amazing), but I'd have to say Daniel Craig is my favorite. I like the physicality, he has the "it" factor.
Nah, that was an hors d'oeuvre, this is the main course, NO TOFU in this line babyyy!!... ....... ....... .......
I agree with you, the only reason I prefer Connery is that he's the Original. I also think that if you put Connery at 34yrs old in today's Bond movies we would be saying the same thing about him. Today's movies are more lavish and have much better sound and better visual affects. ....... ....... .......
Roger Moore by far. Always seemed to fit the role best. I might catch some heat for this, but Brosnan is a badass MFer and I've always liked him as Bond. I honestly don't understand the fascination with Daniel Craig. I've watched all his Bond movies, and I just can't seem to accept him as James Bond. Something about him is off for some reason. Dude is a great actor and has the best physique out of all the Bonds, but he just isn't the prototypical Bond and I think that's why I take issue with him.
The reason I think more people accept Craig and Connery as Bond is that both were a lot younger when they played Bond. Roger Moore started being Bond at 46yrs old and in 4 of his films he was over 50yrs old and 57 when his last Bond movie came out. In contrast Connery was 32yrs old when he started, and finished all six of his movies by 41, and Craig started at 38, and has three movies at 44yrs old. I just couldn't grasp that a 50+ year old spy kept hooking up with 20ish looking babes and always seem to kick the living daylights out of younger brutes...... ....... ....... .......
Definitely Sean Connery. The guy was such a G. So many great quotes. "Some men just don't like to be driven." "No, some men don't like to be taken for a ride."
Here's my thinking: Sean Connery - the OG. Can't mess with that. Craig - Just a Brutal guy. If you look at Bond as an young man growing, this is the dude he was when he was young. Just Brutal. Craig really takes a young man, young spy and adds a depth that's incredible. His origin with Vesper really defines the rest of his life, including all the subsequent bonds. Brosnan - A good blend of all the Bonds. Wasn't cheesy like Moore. Wasn't eager and unsauve like Dalton. Moore - Complete cheese Lazenby - who?
I voted for Pierce Brosnan because I grew up watching him. He's my favorite Bond because he is what James Bond should be to me. I realize that he did not make the best movies but I found his movies extremely fun to watch. Also his ability to make shooting people look so casual is kinda fascinating.
Brosnan doesn't get nearly enough credit for saving that franchise. Dalton's films looked like the daydreams in a TV movie about a bored housewife.
For me, it's Connery followed by Craig. Brosnan just doesn't have the physical presence of either. Moore was too much of a cheeseball, and Dalton/Lazenby just don't feel right in the role.
