Did we draft the wrong guy (i.e. Yao Ming)?

Maybe you shouldn't have registered here in Clutchcity. You maybe good for us short term wise but right now you dragging our IQ down. This place will definitely be a better place if we traded you for one of those clueless guys at Phxsuns.net so that we don't have to see your posts anymore.

Clutchcity.net made a huge mistake in accepting your registration.

I dont think that Francis or Mobley changed their Game very much! Francis was obliged to give Yao Ming limited involvement in each game and that was all. Yao Ming made his shots, then he was cut off. Yao Ming has been abused by the Rockets this season due to the type of game that Rudy T fostered ( not coached) focasing on the game of a guard oriented team.

IF run out of gas is correct (heart, maybe? run out of heart?) then perhaps Mooch's lack of performance has kept Stevie on the floor 40+ minutes /night. Cat could get Hawk or JPo relief, but is out there 40+ minutes/night.

The truth is the Rox were in trouble prior to Rudy but post-Rudy has been a Mean Disaster. I wish I understood why. This is likely to keep larry Smith from ever realizing a head job in the NBA.

    Shame on his gutless warriors.

hum good point. Nachbar did nothing this year obviously not his fault. There has to be a reason why he wasnt given a chance the coaches had to lack confidence in him. But Juan Dixion could have made a difference in this team, he goes all out. Id feel more comfortable with him in the game than mooch. Shoulda drafted Juan

Rockets definitely made the right choice to draft Yao Ming because:

    1. From basketball perspective: Yao Ming is a true center (not a 6'9" trying to play center) and legit 7 footers is an extinct breed in NBA nowadays. It's hard for a team to win (or even challenge) for NBA champhionship without some dominate inside force unless you have someone named Michael Jordan on your team.

    2. From business perspective: Rockets probably had about 5 Chinese fans before they drafted Yao Ming. Now almost every Rockets game is televised in China.

On the other hand Jay Williams has "another overrated Duke graduate" written all over him. Rockets wouldn't have drafted Amare anyway since they've got Eddie Griffin. Caron Butler would have been a decent choice if not Yao Ming, but I don't think anyone in their right mind will make Caron the first overall pick.

What I think Rockets need are:
    1. Trade away Mobley for either a tall combo guard who play defense. Doug Christie would be a perfect fit but I doubt kings will let him go.
    2. Sign a bruiser to play PF using MLE. PJ Brown should be your first choice.

If we drafted another good perimeter player, we would be a 40-something team and in the bottom slots of the playoffs for many years. No lotteries, no championship, just the middle of the pack. You want that?

Francis was not going to bring us a championship. John Lucas was BSing when he suggested to Francis that he could be MVP material. Francis is good for being the SECOND star of a championship team. We needed somebody that would be better than Francis for any chance to be a contender. Yao was the guy. I'm glad we got him. He's the only untouchable to me.

hmmm... such a philosopher. Great quote. Without failure, there will never be success. Enjoy the ride people ... the excitement, the anticipation ...

Would you rather read the whole book or jump to the conclusion.

Of course we drafted the wrong guy. He exposed all the flaws and weakness of the team and the players.

We totally drafted the wrong guy. Yao is too clean. He upset the great chemistry on this team. What we needed were some more big time partyers and weed smokers to blend in. No goody goodies here. Substance abuse and late night partying is where it's at. But Yao is too serious and clean to help us out in that department. He belongs on a clean team like the Jazz

    Actually,

The Rockets were offered the Clippers two lottery picks for the first pick.

The Rockets could have drafted Amare and Caron Butler instead of Yao.

    Makes you think...

I think you can still get a great PF or anyone you mentioned above by trading Yao at this time. So you have the option. If Rox had done anything you suggested, I doubt Rox can get Yao at this time. This alone proves that drafting Yao is a right choice.

right, Yao, Amare and Butler would have gone 1,2,3 and Rox would have got none.

I would suggest to trade Yao to quiet the
clutchcity. His chance to be a top 5 player
    is not that great.

Yao to Kings for bobby Jackson and turkolulu
    Yao to Clippers for Brand
    etc.

Umm, not quite true. When we got the first pick, a lot of the so-called "Yao Haters" asked was Yao the right guy to help us get to the playoffs NOW, which this whole damn board agreed was the goal. We all thought that a #1 shouldn't be used on a "project." No one here, I mean no one, wanted a project player.

Pro-Yao'ers said: YES! You can't coach 7'6 (repeatedly).

Yao Haters, said: No! We need another player to get to the play-offs. Yao will take too much time.

In retrospect, who was right? I mean we all love Yao, especially me. He's my favorite NBA player. But he was not the right pick to help us get to the playoffs this year. Admit it.

Although it's surely disappointing in Yao's poor performance in a crucial game. He does not cost us the playoffs. THe whole f!cking team is to be blame.

WHen every single players play like crap, there's something really wrong with the organization. What the heck is Eddie Griffin doing in this crucial part of season? He got himself arrested for pot. Steve is not being vocal enough. Yao is just still learning.

Yao absolutely did a great job as a rookie. He does not party late, he does not take drugs, he's funny and friendly, he tries to be the best team players he can be. He generates lots of fan support every road game the Rox have.

Most importantly[\B] he does not point fingers at his teammate like Griffin did, and he takes responsibility many times this season by telling the media he's responsible for a loss.

There's Not ONE single Rox besides Yao that admits to the media that he is responsible for a loss. [\B]

This god d!mn team is just so dysfunctional in so many levels, if it's not for Yao, we will not win as many games.

I love the Rockets because of Hakeem. But I wouldn't mind Yao leaving for Orlando. I am an Orlando fan as well. Heck that would be one hell of a combination of McGrady and Yao. I know McGrady would love to play with Yao because Orlando has had no low post player since Shaq left. McGrady also is a spectacular passer. I know he could get Yao the ball in the paint.

Dammit, maybe the Rockets should trade Francis and Mobley for McGrady. One can only dream.

Wow... Francis fan, you resort to this.

Clippers picks were No. 8 and No. 12. So at best we would have had Amare but not Bulter who had gone at No. 10.

And those 2 guys would take away more Francis shots.

    Hmmm... make me think...
