Recently I got a jazz CD called "Open Sesame" by Freddie Hubbard. Now Freddie has a great group playing with him, but I had to do a double-take when I saw one of the names. Tina Brooks was on saxophone! Of course, Tina is a guy. I did some further research and found out that Brooks was considered one of the great unknown jazz players of all-time. Unfortunately for jazz fans everywhere, Tina Brooks died prematurely at 42 in 1974 (I think it was due to drug addictions that ravaged his body).
I just worked with a dude named Stacy. Its short for some freaked out Greek name but who cares, I thought he could at least come up with a nickname that didnt make him sound like a chick.
He wasn't in the Louisiana area was he? Oh yeah - Chicks with dude names. OMG...soooo sexy...probably some underlying gayness creeping out but I LOVE CHICKS WITH GUY NAMES!! On second thought I doubt it about the gayness thing. But the fact remains.
I once knew a dyke by the name of Teresa Jewel....we called her T.J....Is this the same? TJ to me is a guy name.
there was a guy that lived in my neighborhood that was named Kim...he always had a rep for being that cool older guy with the rad car...(I was like 10, he was 18 with a 69 Camaro) and I know a guy who is known by everyone in his family as Stacy. it is actually his middle name but since his first name was the same as what his older sister was known as(Chris), they called him by his middle name to avoid confusion. I also know a girl who goes by Danny...her full name is Danielle, but for some reason she likes to go by Danny...go figger.
i've mentioned it before. my name is fakhri. its supposed to be pronounced fur-kree. but ever since my school teacher told me what she thought it sounded like, its been f*ck-kree. that was when i was 9-10 years old. one girl thought i should change the letter 'r' to 'm'. oh yeahhh giggitygiggitygiggity
