Exactly. Only if DMo continues to play like **** will TJones play at PF.

Seriously though... could you have picked a more random list???... you might as well list every single PF, Center, or SF in the league cause I can conjure up a way to rationalize the Rockets acquiring and starting every single of of them.

The obvious choice IMO would be either D-Mo or Jones. Those are the two guys who are -

    A. ALREADY ON THE ROSTER
    B. Have been invested in by the organization & groomed over the past 12 months
    C. Have this potential upside to not just be adequate, but great if their potential is realized
    D. Give the team the potential to be great on both ends with great size at the 4/5.

Why anyone would pick anyone else is beyond me. Its like going to vegas, playing Roulette and hoping you lose because you like playing Blackjack better.... makes no sense to hope for failure cause you want to root for the other guy instead.

Oh except for Scola.... Its been stated over and over on here and yet his name still keeps getting brought back up.

The Rockets or any other team that amnesties a player CANNOT re-acquire that player within the span of the contract like that the player was signed under.

The Rockets CANNOT re-acquire Scola for another two years minimum.

Once again, the list isn't random. It's a list of power forwards who have salaries that are acquirable by using two or three of DMo, TJones, and Greg Smith as outgoing salary. You could add some names such as PPat, Marquis Morris, Scola, etc. I stayed why I didn't include those guys.

I happen to think that if Minny doesn't re-up Derrick Williams for the 4th year of his rookie deal, which they need to decide in the next couple weeks, that he could possibly be a trade target, combining all 3 guys in outgoing deals and finding a decent small forward and a pick to give Minny for him.

And I think he would represent a significant upgrade to those three guys and would thrive spreading the floor around Dwight and Asik. I also think when it comes time to trade Asik that a package of Asik and Derrick Williams would be more attractive trade bait than Asik and any/all of the three guys we've got now, especially if we go into the season with two and possibly all three of them riding the bench.

I am surprised the poll favors Jones and DMo so much.

Other than a superstar player, every player in the NBA is available at some cost.... its random enough.

Again... Scola cannot be re-acquired by the Rockets until 2015 when his current existing contract is up.

Why wouldn't they favor one of them to work out

    again-

You could make a case for each of these guys you listed as a 911 mid-season trade in the case that Jones, D-Mo, Smith, Twin-Towers Asik, & small-ball doesn't work, but none of these guys are the type of player you blow up the opposing GM's phone over.

If you NEED to acquire one of these guys to have a successful NBA franchise, you have some major problems.... this list is random enough.

Jones, D-Mo, & Smith are already here with the Rockets. Lets just see what they can do first before jumping the ship for some B-level role player.

    not directly.
He was injured, not good in defensive rotations and got to the Dleague.
D-League allstars and good production there

I'm surprised no one mentioned Casspi.

Derrick Williams is no more B-level than any of these guys. IF we hold all 3 of these guys until the deadline at least 2 of them will have zero trade value. I am advocating trading at least 2 of these guys now...before they lose more trade value...for anything of value...even an expiring contract and a future first round pick would be better than at least 2 of them rotting on the bench.

I think right now, D-mo is a better fit next to Howard than T. Jones...

I voted DMo, but actually wanted to pick both DMo and TJones. I'm down for whoever has the most potential to turn into a bootlegged Larry Bird. Heck, I'll even settled for a bootlegged Manimal.

But seriously, what the hell is wrong with the Rockets' drafting department. Dude was clearly undersized, not quick, never shot particularly efficiently in college, had no real range, and he didn't rebound well. Only thing going for him was his passing (compared to other big men, for whom it doesn't really matter all that much anyway) and his huge hands.

Though I guess we all know Morey has a thing for big hands.

Marcus Morris! 38% 3pt shooting on the Rockets last year on 3.8 shots per 21 minutes, better than any stretch 4 options adjusted for salary (and still has 2 years left on his rookie salary).

Caveat - his 3 pt shooting dropped to 30% when he was traded to Phoenix, with nobody able to get him a good shot on that team.

TJones and GSmith. Sorry but I want a tough front together with Howard and Asik. If possible, I want for Howard and Asik to share some minutes.
