ClutchFans Game Thread: Pelicans @ Rockets 10/5/2013 (PRESEASON)

Got to feel bad for Holiday, I said the dude overrated but damn he got destroyed. Lin smothered him and then Beverley just plain murdered him. How he was an all star when Curry wasn't still makes me mad.

 

Western Conference so many talented guards.

 

From what I saw the coaches are letting him PG more now , he was initiating good offence. Many in which he doesn't necessary score or get the assist. But you can see it flowing nicely.

 

D-Mo is a starter for team chemistry. Jones is a better scorer and can create shots for himself. D-Mo being a starter doesn't mean he is a better player. The second team need more of a dominate scorer and T-Jone should be on that second team. When Jones was playing with starters, he didn't pass the ball.

 

when the regular season starts, mcfail will make tjones ride the pine just like last year. then he's gonna beg morey to get him someone like aldrich to play some post up

Personally didn't have a huge problem with the fouls he took. Most of them came playing alongside Dwight where he was really the one taking the foul when the defense got broken down. Who would you rather have taking the fouls... D-Mo or the other guy???

One turnover was a bone-headed play where he got stripped not paying attention. That's not something you can expect every game from any player. I'm pretty sure he got reamed in the next timeout for that, and will now be paranoid when handing the ball off on a high screen.

The over-criticism of D-Mo is just what people here are wanting to see. Its the preseason. If you can't state the positives alongside the negatives, you are cherry picking based on what you WANT to see. He had some positives that need to be pointed out.

 

what team chemistry? canaan could play the 4 and the starters could still have good team chemistry. dwight is impressed with tjones and i think that's a sign of good chemistry. tjones is a better player and deserves to start...dmo should come off the bench and risk getting those fouls later than earlier in the game..

hopefully covington/casspi/smith can pan out and play the 4..

dmo for sure doesn't deserve the starting 4 position.

 

Jrue was in the east and Curry was in the west last year.

Did you not read my reply? Why was James Harden not a starter on the OKC? Did you see Casspi getting ran over by Davis?

 

Won't happen. Have some faith in our young guys. The Rox need a starting power forward who can pass the ball into Dwight and move without the ball--things that DMo does well. DMo's defensive weaknesses won't matter as much with Dwight having his back.

TJones' offense talent will be wasted if he starts. He will steal shots from Dwight and Harden and Lin and Parsons. TJones is better off as a spark off the bench, much like Beverley. The starting 5 is fine. Both Lin and DMo move well and are creative passers who can get the ball to D12 and Harden.

TJones might make a great 6th man who can come out and just score. Again, his offensive style doesn't mesh well with the first unit and it's obvious that McHale sees that. Again...it's not whose the better player but who plays better with whom.

The Rockets have a lot to look forward to this season

 

I'm not an LOF, and you can call me crazy, but I see improvement this year in Lin.
He looks quicker and he made some great penetration drives/layups. Created havoc in the lane. He's been shooting lights out in the scrimmage vids I've seen.
I think he's gonna be an asset this year. P&R with Dwight should be highly effective.

 

I'm liking Friedmans nickname for Casspi tonight "The Human Torch", awesome. I hope he keeps it up, that is a cool nickname.

You always do your best to earn the [CBL] moniker. If you would think about what you are going to post for a few minutes before you hit the submit button you would not have that badge above your name.

First, the coaching staff is excellent. It is a preseason game and the purpose is not to win it, but to investigate small things like who is going to be cut, who are the starting players, who plays in small ball lineups, etc.

It was NOT obvious who should be the starting power forward. How many points did Davis score with D-Mo guarding him? Four? But he had what 21 for the game. Why did Jones have more shot attempts when he was on the floor than Harden or Howard? And he did play the majority of his minutes on the second team, where he was about the only serious offensive threat.

I personally thought that Jones pretty much sucked in the limited tape of the scrimmages. Wasn't he like 2 for 6? Bad decisions everywhere.

You should re-evaluate your personal processes for posting.

But it is just the first of 8 preseason games. Much information is still to be gathered.

 

First thing first to remember these are preseason games.

Out of 10 starters from both teams we wouldn't know which starters are serious and which ones are not.

Clearly the unproven players like Caspi should impress more and he did.
