*reads thread title... refuses to read article and begins hating on Howard for vowing to follow LeBron to Miami in order to win championships*

    Yeah, IB4 that^ :p

In all seriousness, I do see Howard vindicating himself here... but not until next season... again, following LeBron's pattern of winning in his 2nd full season with his new team. Hope he proves me wrong, and becomes a champ this season.

IMHO this article is exactly why people who take about athletes taking the "easy path" don't really understand what they're talking about.

People aren't mad LBJ went to win rings with Bosh and Wade, they're mad because he went of his own will instead of waiting for a GM to trade for him. It was something new and unheard of at the time, and now that LBJ proved that playing with superstars doesn't mean he can coast around every game, people are more accepting of that notion.

Winning is everything in the NBA, and to be honest I don't think a lot of people viewed DH as a villain, except maybe people from Orlando and LA. Once he wins a ring, or even reaches the finals I think everyone will forget about it and move on.

So Dwight gives us the response to Kareem: Kareem is a seven-footer and didn't suit Dwight's game, so Dwight didn't want to work with him. That's why Kareem is over there criticizing Dwight for lacking the will to do what it takes to win.

New and unheard of  Shaq, Tmac, Nash did it. Of course, plenty of guys forced trades before they even got to free agency (remember Steve Francis?).

Lebron was criticized because he left his hometown team, and made a huge spectacle out of it.

I know it sounds impossible, but the next villain will be Durant.

Pretty tame for a Woj article. I don't care if people like Dwight. I like him. It's nice to have a team worth hating for once. Can't wait to drink all those salty OKC fan tears when we blow past them in the playoffs.

Every team needs leaders, serious competitors, blue collar glue guys and

Maybe we get lucky, nobody forgives Dwight, he lets his rage run loose, breaks some backboards and goes Charles Oakley on the entire league.

I know it is b/r article, but Howard Beck is a well respected writer, and I really enjoyed this one. Don't want to start a new thread, so I hope it fits here.

The problem in the league is players who run teams instead of coaches.

If Dwight was really detrimental to the team, he would have said no. Good to see he was willing to go above and beyond. And even better that McHale was joking. I think both coach and player probably learned a lot from each other from that.
