Anybody had a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) before?

    Just wondering if anyone's gone through this procedure before? How does the next 24-48 hours usually feel? Thanx.

    The initial tap felt like someone rammed a telephone pole through my soul. The next few days I had headaches and some dizziness. Good luck! :)

    we do em here. You be will prone, the uncover your back and prep with some cold soap.Radiologist (Dr) withdraws spinal fluid with a needle and xray you to make sure needle is placed right. Then when their done you slowly roll back onto your bed flat to avoid headache. Take less than an hour.

    Thanks for the info. I'm just wondering because I actually had this procedure done six times during the past 36 hours (5 being unsuccessful and the last one successful only because it was xray guided.) But good Lord my neck and back are stiff! I'm used to the headache but I'm walking like a penguin. Not too worried about it because of the amount of sticks, but just wondering about others' experiences.

    Really:confused: Only my last one was xray guided! They couldn't find ****. So they kept sticking me with numbing meds and kept pounding me with that thing
